  1. I just picked up an RSW-10 on ebay ($400, 8 mos. old in great shape!) and I've never used a sub. I'm pairing it with a nice set of Lascala's (89's, AL-3 crossovers). In researching here on the board, it looks like I probably need to get a new amp with sub-out and/or a pre-amp but I'm also looking at tube amps given the Lascala's... Would the right fit perhaps be to find a tube amp/pre-amp with sub out? Any suggestions? It's an all music application in a space about 30' x 20'. I sure appreciate your help.

im just curious ,But how did you get it setup to sound good with your lascalas,Or do you even know its there..[:)]
  2. HuH? People should take it a little slower on details of hookups to make it less confusing,There are lots of beginners on here that are new to AV/audio,Yes if you have a sub out connection coming out of the back of your receiver that will be a low pass, and this connects to the lfe input of your subwoofer,If you connect the cable from your receiver subout to the high pass of your sub connections, you will be working on a set 80hz settings most common on subs,On most recevers you can adjust your cutoff you like the best,You will also gain a 4 to 18db gain depending on manufacture using a double cable left/right,If you are using a single cable from your sub out from receiver, you can pug it in to your sub left or right channel with out any gain.Cheers [:P]

Well, you apparently didn't understand, address, or answer his question, either. You are completely incorrect in understanding how his (and perhaps some other) subwoofer works.

His subwoofer does not have a separate LFE input versus the L+R pre-ins.

His subwoofer has a toggle switch that allows him to ENABLE or DISABLE the subwoofer's low-pass filter(variable crossover knob).

So he (thxsubwoofer) is correct. Since he is using a receiver with an "LFE" or Sub" output, he should DISABLE the subwoofer's low-pass filter, thereby bypassing the subwoofer's low-pass filter altogether, and letting his receiver do the bass managing with it's own digital crossover.

Thats right i forgot the rsw has no lfe input. But the low level inputs can be used as lfe.
  3. Yes I read the manual. I have an Panasonic SA-XR25 that has a sub out. So that means I have it switched to disable?

  4. Just in,my low end Sunfire D-8 just died today! After a giant 20 minutes of operation last night,I switched the sub off.Today nothing,no function light! All fuses good, both back and the two inside! The transformer looks like a major POS(very much the culprit here, blackened winding!).

Why is Bob switching to this POS amp,is beyond me.The older transformerless Sunfire subs all work A1,this one (the D-8) dies after 20 minutes! LOL

I am bringing the amp to the store for an exchange. What a lemon. Now you know, even SUnfire subs(the cheap ones D series) can die. My Signature,Mark II and Super Junior never had any problems, even after blasting them full tilt and years of use!

This isn the first product I have that dies after so little time.Well I will not strat crying like in the LoudMedia ssecion.Lemons are a part of life,I AM FUMING MAD now...at least I have my dozens of subs to continue pumping the subsonics.

    getech,

Ask Bob to demand forgivness for this incident.I want a compensation...a FREE Sunfire keychain. [;)]

Some day some one will think of installing 120mil computer fans to cool the insides,Well Let it be me[:)] diy.
  5. SVS doesn't have a product that comes with the auto-eq feature, but a very popular stand alone sub eq unit is the Velodyne SMS1. For the retail price of a RT12d, you can get a SVS PB12plus/2 (in wood finish) and get a SMS1 and will come within the retail price of RT12d. I know we all love Klipsch speakers, but there are better subs out there.

Id keep my rt12 over any svs by far.
  6. How come when I'm on some other audio forum and every time Klipsch speakers are mentioned, there are always a few people that mention how "harsh" the Klipsch horns sound? I have a set of Klipsch KG5.5 and think they sound great but that might be because I don't know much different for my lack of testing other speakers. I'm looking at expanding upon my set and turning it into a 5.1 system. I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with Klipsch products, but after hearing some complaints about how the horns sound harsh, I'm now a little hesitant.
Most of the time when they mention thisthey have never heard,khorns/lascalas/herseys and the rest. They just dream about having a nice pair.[;)]
  7. Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to put together a 5.1 channel system in my family room and need advise for rear surround speakers. The Klipsch website recommends the RS-42s for what I have for fronts. I was hoping to go with something smaller and possibly less expensive if possible. Any suggestions?

So far I have the following audio equipment:

    RB-61 for front left/right

    RC-52 center

    velodyne dls3500 subwoofer (8inch)

    yamaha rx v659 av receiver.

    Thanks for the help.

RS 25's will go nice with what you have for the rear.
  8. Kevin,

Shipping should be in the $300-400 range for one DANLEY sub,I will for sure consider one, when its time to build a serious HT room.Price is very realistic, even a bargain conidering the performnance/space taken.

Gee this big monster we can cut in half,And we will both have a nice size box.[;)].
  9. "this time to be greeted by a very large intimidating fellow, probably 6' 6 or so, and 300lb or more"

LOL This one takes the cake,a very large and INTIMIDATING fellow greeted you! HA HA HA

    Great for sales of subwoofers

" but before I step or even take my jacket off he starts firing away with questions, like a police detective in the movies or TV"

Sounds like a KGB or CIA question squad. LOL

Well as you can see yourself, from the measurments you too this sub is very linear from 60Hz down to 28Hz.Not bad,but to be expected around 25Hz and lower all tiny subs collapse in output. The mighty Sunfire Sig collapses around 20hz.

And the fat salesman collapses a wooden floors, and sales. [:P] And what is the problem with the stunned C storming in the room telling you to lower the volume!? I would tell her to walk out and shut the F up and walked out. What is this an audio store or a flea market?

[:D]Whats she doing on the other side of the room any way with items falling off the walls ? Nice audio shop,Sounds like future pooper Ear.[:P]
  10. Upgrading from the sun sig to the Martin Logan Descent is quite the improvement in bass, and pure clean output.I have never owned the sun sig but tried it for a while,The sun sig is not as clean as the ML,My ML Descent i just love, pure natural and body moving deep bass.

  11. MR SUB Jockey Do this test for me will ya,Lets see how much better sounding with out the 12" cone popping watching a Dvd,Lets see how much abuse your pw2200 can handle,Now there are not to many other good dvds movies to test subs other than Mr Incredibles..Well there are a few more but i always use this one to test many subs for extremely low sound,Turn your receiver to 80hz setting as normal setups,Now turn your sub level up to 3/4 setting,Now i dont know what receiver you are using, but this will work for any receiver selling on the market, turn your receiver volume up past half way point of its volume,Now watch the complete movie at this volume, close to half way through the movie you are going to get into heavy bass listen to 1-15 to 1-16 of the movie at this volume or as high as you want, crank her up,For sure the pw2200 will be popping the cone several times, and this is a very well known issue that the pw2200 can not handle any heavy duty cone movement,The pw2100 will handle any volume++ with this movie and have hard hitting deep defined bass.Have fun,Note: be careful you dont blow the 12' cone out because many have on this movie with the pw2200.

  12. Well for starts the omni is good for the walls,If you are running rears you can always go for some custom RS stands in the proper height for the rears, here are the ones that i custom make for klipsch rs series,People like them and buy alot of them,I just used a aa battery to lift up the speaker to show you the under part.Actually i use these rs25 models shown for 2 rear centers,I have a large main sound room to fill,

  13. Hey gang. I've got a coupla screws loose right now. . .on the back of my non-functioning subwoofer and figured I should ask for some advice before continuing.

I've got a SKW-100 subwoofer that won't power on. When plugged in, the light in the back glows orange and won't change to green. I tried another cheapie little subwoofer and get sound from it, but not the SKW. I hear that sometimes fuses are blown, or other problems occur that can be somewhat easily fixed. Anything I should look for in particular? Any idea what screws I should be unscrewing?

remove the fuse make sure its not a blown fuse, wait 2/3 minutes reinstall, make sure plug is out of the wall when you do this,Plug the cord back in and try,do you hear any thing click pop,Me can fix up,But me not dare [:P]

  15. Can you change outlets for the hook up of your sub?,I dont know how long your sub cable is to do that,But try this first,Use a outlet closest to the main powerbox, test this and tell me what happens. Also let me know how this sub is hooked up,As for surge protectors I have about 3 of the best apc bars for my main system,Two bars control my subs and one controls the gear, always run a bar on a sub ! You can use the single protectors but they do not provide enough nanosecond protection.

  16. Ear i enjoyed my trinty for a while having it,The claims they make on their site should be more straight forward of what you are receiving,i think then they would sell more,How many can toss the money just to test it,Not many dealers have them to stock,You have to hunt them down.I sold mine and didnt loose any money,I tested a MartinLogan Descent subwoofer and purchased one,How do i like it ?,Well I like it more than the trinty i had by far,The hgs18 that I borrowed also fell in the hole beside the MartinLogan Descent ,We hauled this sub for a 1 hour trip down to a buddy's with a vel 1812,His room was about 25x30,We compared the 1812 to the descent and after deciding ,he liked my sub better. He is now thinking of selling his 1812.

  17. If i had to pay $900.00 for a pw2100 or 2200 to keep,I would have got some thing else,I have close friends that own several different stores and sell many different brands,$650.00 is agood price for the public,But the dealer is still making lots of money. All I had to say is the pw2100 with only a 10" driver is a little rocker when it comes to music, And for home theatre it kicks you in the gut.It puts the rsw 10 to shame.
