  1. Swerv, I'm using a Paradigm PW-2100 with a pair of La Scalas. I chose the 10-inch 2100 over the 12-inch 2200 because it's reputed to be faster and more musical. They both have the same 400-watt RMS/1500-watt peak amplifier.

The price here in Victoria is around $900CAD, so you could even try bargaining for a pair for $1800 including tax.

The sound is clean and strong, and if you hook it up in the "plus 6dB way", connected to to both its left and right inputs, as I mistakenly did at first, you'll have enough bass to kick your sofa across the room.

Watching the No Doubt Rock Steady Live DVD, Tony Kanal's bass seemed as accurate and lifelike as I could ever imagine. As for low-end response, below 40Hz or so the room becomes a big factor. You'll only get 20Hz in a really big room, no matter what kind of speaker you have. Anyway, the lowest note on a 4-string bass guitar is around 40Hz, while a 5-string can go as low as 30Hz. Below that is only certain pipe organ music (correct me if I'm wrong).

You are right,I did several tests on the 2200 and the 2100,The 2200 will go little lower, 1db,But this can be hardly heard if any.the 2100 is tighter and quicker than the 2200,The 2100 takes more abuse than the 2200,And the 2100 seemed to sound lower than the 2200,I found no cone popping coming from the 2100 at all during many tests, even testing watching Mr incrediables movie,The 2200 at 80hz setting level 3 oclock volume ,The woofer started to pop many times,So we replaced the 2200 sub with an other figuring we have a sub problem,No same thing with this one so they are all the same,The pw-2100 just kept going, with power to spare,It stayed clean and had deep low end that you could feel in the room,We even made adjustments ,then we cranked her right up full just to see how that little 10" driver would do,The 2100 just wanted more !.It did not even want to distort,As for chest pounding bass the 2100 you can feel in the room, the 2200 you can not.
  2. Wow, I'm jealous...a Bladder Buster

Are you sure you need the Rt-12d with that thing?!?!? If not I'll take it [:P]

Anyways, good luck with them both when they get there, and post some pics too! [:D]

Just FYI: To post pics, when replying hit the options tab and then the add/update button, find the pic and then hit ok... I wanna see that thing, and good luck once more

Not happy but had to change my plans do to WAF.
  3. Ayyeeee - that's me, but a worm X 2.

I actually own (and love) not just one, but two SVS subs in two different setups. [:D]

C'mon Paul, you know that you want to buy my old ISD drivers. After all, TC Sounds is a fine manufacturer. Give you a great deal on 'em.

    Carl.

EBAY STARTING BID 99 cents.Sold 99 cents shipped to the next Baiting sucker[:D]P.S. Please go ahead and feel free to dislodge your "paneling" with your Trinity. For your info I dont have paneling, the paneling is here http://avforum.com/myhometheater/users/wmorig//8b0d20daf57f1f6c1ff90c6e51dd3010.JPG
  4. Guys, guess what.....?[:o]

Baiting "Paul" (no relation to any of the Pauls in two-channel) just crawled out from under his rock to again bash all SVS subs and their owners.

I've responded to his hash-slinging SVS hate posts more than once. I will not waste my time any further. Ironically, all of his hate SVS posts look remarkably similar. Are they all generated from one corporate source? If not, where's the creativity? Say something new.

Others, feel free to respond (or not).

    Carl.

P.S. Please go ahead and feel free to dislodge your "paneling" with your Trinity.

Its a free world, and we all have our preferences in what we look for from a sub.

I see you are one of the worms with the SVS sub,You are one of the owners that crawled in the hole[:P] send it back so they can put it on their used page.
  5. SVS subs are a complete waste of money,I feel sorry for the people that buy over the net and dont know what they are getting,And you Just got sucked into listening to all the online forum pimps that work for the company saying they are the best,Try going to other forums where they talk svs,I heard from others that if you cut up SVS you get booted out and banned,Thats right they are all workers and braggers to move SVS product,So you are not reading posts from actual owners of the the subs, they are actual pushers for their product,I dont see Klipsch plastered all over the internet bragging how good of a product they have, actly they dont have to and you get a good product when you buy it,I cant count all the people i have talked to that shipped SVS back and purchased other subs other than toilet tubes made from card board or big coffin boxes that are not needed,I like the link to the photo with the huge SVS boxes in this small room,If you had a good subwoofer with real bass you wouldnt need two of these huge boxes in a small room like this.I heard plenty of svs subs and they were a joke,Ill take any high end Klipsch sub over a SVS,My single Trinty would kill these two subs in this room and lossen up the paneling,Better yet will take Ears velo HGS18 and my trinty and put it in this room,NO....Come on guys Do you actly hear or FEEL any thing from those huge SVS boxes............This is the SVS Joke here look at the link http://avforum.com/myhometheater/users/wmorig//8b0d20daf57f1f6c1ff90c6e51dd3010.JPG

  6. Listen, what about making the precut wood to dimensional sizes that can be manipulated in ways that it can be easy to hit the proper cubic size. You know 2,3,4,5,6 cubic feet etc.

Most cabinets will fit in any room (it might be huge but it fits) but you have no clue as to what leads to the biggest volume per size requirement. A cube is the biggest volume per smallest floor space and equal height.

The hell with it..Dont worry about the size,Just slap the cabinets to gether with chip board.[:P]
  7. GREAT, Can't wait for some punk to come around my neighborhood with one of those thumping so loud I can hear it inside my stone home 200 feet from the road!

Do these people think they can hear an emergency vehicle or horn with the music so loud?

I don't think other people will use these subwoofers for SPL. Its supposed to be used for SQL. In my opinion I think it Beats JLw7. These subwoofers will sound excellent in a sealed enclosure.

Im not sure if this is the correct price. Someone has posted them on realmofexcursion forums for the pricing. XXX12 1299.00

[:D]Sounds like my Harley.Sorry to boomy for me.
  8. Even canucks are on my case! Gee whiz better dig my grave and save. [:|]

Someone got a shovel,to lend me?

I admit having mild outbursts , where is my WalMart credit card...ah here.See ya later aligaror.

I have a shovel to let you borrow ,But the S..t is still stickin to it .[;)]
  9. Nice sub by the way.I did have one a while back til i changed a few things in my system,I ran them with my lascalas at 60hz and they did excellent for filling in bottom end,I found the sub was a liitle better sounding at 40 and 50hz.I wouldnt run it over 60hz what ever you do.

  10. The Sub I use is in my signature below, it is one earth shaking beast, it is great for music and movies, the bass is as tight "not boomy" and powerful as it can get, it has adjustments from 25hz,20hz, to 16hz, for the money nothing comes close to SVS.

Really[:D],You must have not tested other subs on the market,People that first buy these and never had many other subs to compare to, or owned seem to think they already have the best. When they hear a boom boom they think they have the best sub money can buy.[:)].......Musical ,If you like nice clean low end while playing lots of music. You can try subs from ACI which are made by Audio Concepts,Or even get into some of JM labs subs like the Utopia 2,Very nice tight/clean sub.

Yes, Paul's comments are historically smug.

Paul, you didn't understand what he said. He said, "for the money." The Utopia subs are $6000+ pieces. And the ACI, while musical, are little mice in the SPL category. Also, it stands to reason that you definitely haven't heard an SVS sub if you call them boomy. Most people complain that they're too much the opposite of.

In any case, please either contribute productively and positively or go to the kiddie forums where that kind of attitude is accepted.

No never heard any subs CAS [:P] LOL,Many suppliers should know my name by now as went through hundreds. Not a few like your self from retail stores and online pushy business people. If you are pushing SVS subs so much,You simply are not aware of any other subs,And likely you are on your 4/5 subwoofer todate and think your svs is just amazing.Oh and the SVS are Big mice in the SPL category with Large Farting Ports.Farting ports equal distortion,And your sub is so loud you can not here it any way, I didnt say Boomy I said Boom Boom,Can I say thump thump..Also I searched for the kiddie forums but unable to find them CAS,You must know where they are since you know about them,Can you guide me to the right direction.
