Really[],You must have not tested other subs on the market,People that first buy these and never had many other subs to compare to, or owned seem to think they already have the best. When they hear a boom boom they think they have the best sub money can buy.[].......Musical ,If you like nice clean low end while playing lots of music. You can try subs from ACI which are made by Audio Concepts,Or even get into some of JM labs subs like the Utopia 2,Very nice tight/clean sub.The Sub I use is in my signature below, it is one earth shaking beast, it is great for music and movies, the bass is as tight "not boomy" and powerful as it can get, it has adjustments from 25hz,20hz, to 16hz, for the money nothing comes close to SVS.

I will believe you this time[]Well, it has been a while since this was first posted! I've been busy. Yes, the DTS-20 is in. Took six of us to carry it from the truck the 300' into my home theater building. It is...um...big!
If you stand it up, that is one mighty impressive box. If you were to lay it down, it would actually make a really good center channel stand.
The theater is finally drywalled, painted and we started in on acoustics yesterday. Just for laughs, I hooked it up and ran a sweep on it.
GOOD GOD! []
To say it is powerful is...um..an understatement. I've never felt anything like that beast and I've put in a LOT of subwoofers over my 26 year career in this crazy business. Believe the numbers guys...definitely believe the numbers.

I wish my two mark levinson 336 amps had those nice blue lights,For 9 g each they should have came with lights[]chops from reading the crown website I think the amp front is steel and not aluminum... Meh it still looks nice.

# 4 ,Ear you forgot tannoy, They are used world wide in many studios[]Oh and I forgot to tell you the contours are nice speakers i am not cutting them up,But i have heard plenty of speakers that would change my mind about them real fast,I have heard the confidence 2 and the Master.very fine pieces. If your happy with them as many are in the world thats great.
-
Every room is different and whats in the room,Start by placing the sub in the center or close to center of your mains,Slowly move sub left or right closer to the mains left or right side at the front of the room,As the Who mentioned closer to the corner where your speakers are, will produce boom, but also will not sound correct, in other words cleaner sound/snappy hitting low end a way from a corner is best. This can take awhile to find the perfect sweet spot and adjustments on the sub.

140k total of audio equipment does not impress me at all,If the Ear told me he had a pair of German physiks tiebreaks for speakers then i would know he has a good ear,I think they around $ 245000.00,And they sound very impressive when i heard them in europe,You can open up your pockets and put down 1 mil and more for a pair of speakers easily that i have seen and heard, but i wont get into that becuase we might drive some people here krazy[] lets get onto subwoofers.....
-
Even if the ear had $140k invested in his audio system,That would still be way under average,Gee there are $50,000 and $75,000 cd players out on the market to play with and thats just 1 unit for your system. And Chops even the best of Dynaudio tower speakers are little boys/girls toys compared to whats on the market for audio speakers !

So we now have two ears, checked back on some of your posts,I see you are the Ear[]Yes...It is the great and powerful WoofEar.

Blaw Blaw Blaw,Svs,tc sounds[] If we could only get David Wilson to sell us some of his modified drivers out of his watch dogs,Then you have a driver.[]

In order rsw 12 ,Ax ep500 and then the all wooden box svspb+2
-
How dare you call my Mark Levinson amps junk[]LOL,I still have two of these monsters in storage from a few years back. When it comes to pure power and quality there are better amps to use then just crown.Crown is good but far from the best.
-
The two subs you are referring to DD and the ultra would be close call,Actly i think they would both spank each other a few times[] But I think the DD series would be top dog for clean sound.[]
-
They do look sweet,I will wait for the rt12 to come out, should sound nice in one of my rooms.
-
I will get/order one to try out soon as i hear some info from some dealers. They look good and may perform good to my corners[]
-
Yes you will hear that dd18 bass output above all those boxes,
-
Well I will give you a hint MR SUBWOOFER MACHO NACHO,At about half the price you will find the sub12 will be better that the ultra cube .If i am not mistaken the ultra cube runs around 1g cad at my local shops.I cant keep up to remember all the prices of subs I try, thats no concern for me ,but I do know and remember how they perform ! And no i do not smoke, that way I can spend more money buying quality subs[] I think we all know now what the macho has for a sub,A Sony WM40 with around 100 watts of farting power [][]Whao!!! Exactly what were you smoking and where can I buy it dude.
-
Yes you know so much LOL,I will have to sell my two pw2100's because they suck so much[],Ear will explain to you just how much Canadian made pw2100 or 2200 suck[]I am sure the Ear has tried the 2100 or two of them to tell you how well they perform to other subs on the market. Its hard to find subs that will keep up with the 2100,They produce hard hard hitting deep well defined bass output.canadian cubes suck, its all distortion and thumping.
Macho Nacho is that you in the avatar [][] that would explain it[]
-
I see it has a increase in output to 114,But the thd also went up 1% on the 10d compared to the rsw10,Its hard to say if there will be much of an improvement, the only improvement I see is it will hit lower than the rsw10.
-
If I was on my last beer,I probably be suckered into buying one,Then again ,I wouldnt hear the difference in sound anyway[]
-
At one time, I had all my subs hooked up to see what they could do,The bass was so intense my teeth rattled, and I broke my front tooth,[] So I had to sell one sub on Ebay to get my tooth repaired,But my pictures on the walls were ok,I listened to the Ear way back in other threads and used screws.[] LOL

As Ear mentioned this guy does not have a clue what the hell hes talking about at Soundandvision,Velodyne subs are trash as well ! ? !Now, on to the Trinity SuperCube...I found this subwoofer to suffer from all the problems of small subwoofers. The bass, while very extended, was fat, boomy and heavy. No matter how hard I tried to calibrate it, the sound it produced never blended with the other speakers. It was either too boomy, or too weak. In many ways it reminds me of all the Velodyne subs I have worked with. I played around with how loud it could play a test tone at 20Hz, 16Hz and 12Hz and found it could indeed produce quite a bit out output at those frequencies. I could also hear tons of harmonic distortion while playing those tons. Even at a mere 80dB SPL the THD was clearly audible at 20Hz and much worse at lower frequencies.Of course, my buddy loves the boomy sound and so we found a setting he really liked. But I left feeling the sub was a heavy burden on my ears.http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/idealbb/view.asp?forumID=40&topicID=45689
#1 Hes says It was either too boomy, or too weak. In many ways it reminds me of all the Velodyne subs I have worked with[] :Sorry Velos are far from being boomy and weak.
#2 I could hear tons of harmonic distortion on the trinty and they are boomy and weak also,At 80db you could hear thd at 20.[] well you better get your ears checked because they must be filled with !T .
This thread seems to be getting better every day with people that know everything about subs.[] This tells me,he really did not even demo velo and the trinty subs.An other one that likes to shoot his mouth off in a review and probably never even seen a hgs15/hgs18 or even a trinty.I cant see why Jay481985 would even post this here after reading about velodyne/trinty subs,He would know I or the Ear would respond about this BS.
-
Ear if you can find a dealer that has one in stock that would be great, I know through out ontario its rare to find one in stock on the floor, And I can tell you that,I had to order mine. But after hearing many subs including highend klipsch ,svs, velo and others, the subs just dont even come close for spl output,Down low bass output and extremely quick response. They are extreme chest pounding shaking monsters,When you demo one or two if you like,This will be the last sub you will purchase !
Suggestions for "musical" sub $1000-$1200?
