  1. I've been listening with the Academy as center for a while. I've grown accustomed to the sound but, I just picked up a HII and it will be here in 4 days. I've read all over the place that a Heresy II isn't that great as a center with LSs. I'll soon find out and tell you about it. BTW, I now have 2 KSW-12s. The difference is immediate and wonderful. Bass is directional and just 1 sub was irratating. I could always hear when the sub was functioning and when it wasn't. Now, the location of the subs is audibly invisible. I'm hoping that the HII will smooth out the tonal differences between the LaScalas and the center. I suppose a Heresy I would have been a much better match since the drivers are the same as the LSs. But, at $150 for an HII, I couldn't pass it up.
  2. OK Now I'm drooling. This is the second time today that someone told me of a Heresy upgrade. Coincidence?
  3. Well, I just can't speak to the H-II or H-III option. I haven't heard that setup since 1980 and I just don't recall. I would sure love to hear that option again! Out of the 3 options discussed, the Academy beats the RC-xx boxes. The Hereseys would probably be better (?) but I think that space was 1 of the issues. As far as adding a sub, BY ALL MEANS! I have a KSW-12, also. I listened to the system without a sub for years and when I finally added the KSW, I couldn't belive what I was missing. Keep it near the center though. They say that low freq. are omni but, I can tell right where the low end is coming from. It's a curse. So, I have a second sub coming. If it doesn't do what I expect, it will be for sale soon. (I don't think that will happen.) I am really going to try to find someone with a Heresy to bring over. Now I'm intrigued!
  4. Hi Dino! I have 2 1971 La Scalas for mains and simple RB-25 mounted high for the back. I was using an SC-3 for the center and it was OK but the sound was irritating during the sweeps. (The timbre did NOT match.) Found an academy and couldn't resist. Best upgrade so far! It's big compared to your other choices (RC-10 RC-52) you mention but, the difference is startling. You wouldn't be sorry with an Academy center. All I had to do was remove the wheels from the cabinet under the flat panel and it fit with 1/8" to spare. Even the wife loves the difference. I've found a used pair of F-3 towers that I'm going to play with for the rears. The Academy is by far the best choice I've heard for a center between La Scalas short of another La Scala. Good Luck!
