  1. just about all the locals know this one, but like 2 or 3 months ago, maximumpc hooked up four sets of klipsch 4.1's together to create a 16.4 system (thats 16 freakin satellites with 4 pounding subs for 1600 watts RMS ) i tried to find the link on their page, but i can't seem to, i think its in their november issue. they said that it actually was pretty damn amazing and sounded ungodly loud.

Now that deserves a ROCK ON!!!

  2. its the drivers probably man, they're not too optimized as of yet. I got a 1ghz pIII overclocked to 1.04 ghz and winamp still skips a bit at high cpu usage times. try going into the yamaha synthesizer options, lower the cpu usage, lower a bunch of the settings and see if that helps.

  3. Win9x i assume guys? anyway, have you looked in the sysinfo to see what you're irq's are like, if the ae is sharing specific ones, perhaps with a mainboard component. that might have something to do with it, although i think you would get more frequent lock ups.

  4. i'm afraid that this seems to be a problem with alot of win2k and winamp users. myself and about ten other people, all with sblive's, no matter what drivers we have installed, it skips quit frequently. your best bet is to check out winamp.com and head over to the message boards. don't bother posting, just search winamp and win2k, there are alot of posts on it. You can download a different waveout i think, i can't remember, or there is some other fix that you can try, but no guarrantees.

  5. return that sblive and get an acoustic edge. after some serious tweaking, i got it to work pretty good with my fps2000 pieces of **** (till the damn 4.1's come out). i replaced my x-gamer with it, which was just fine for me, but not enough umph, if you know what i mean.

  6. Glue, did you get your 4.1's to work ok with your Acoustic Edge Ok? I just got my AE yesterday, took out my sblive xgamer, and hooked it up to my creative labs fps2000 peices of **** till i get my 4.1's. These sound frickin terrible!! But they sound even worse with the AE than they did with the sblive. have you had any problems with your AE, i'm getting all kinds of clicking and popping i wasn't getting with my sblive. I'm wondering if i should RMA the AE.

    Thanks,

  7. i wanna get new headphones to go with my 4.1's when they come out. the sennheiser hd580's are supposed to be pretty damn good, but they 300 ohms of impedence, so everybody says i need a headphone amp to go with them. amy, or anybody else, can the headphone jack on the new 4.1's handle these or should i get a headphone amp?

    thanks!
