  1. I'm listening to Animals while I clean the room. These speakers effortlessly overwhelm the vacuum noise. They just have that "Big Speaker" presence I was looking for.
  2. I just angled them 10 degrees inward. Now they image perfectly
  3. The crossovers are original AA. I'd like to replace them but first I need to rebuild my amps.
  4. OK I can tell the tubes are warm now. These things give me goosebumps!
  5. ...because you shouldnt put tube amps on top of speakers...
  6. Picture time! It took two people and a half hour to haul these up the stairs to my man cave.
  7. Well the guy was asking considerably less for this pair and they looked WAY better in real life then they did in the pictures. So I bought them for $1000 images soon to come
  8. I just bought a Pro-ject Debut III brand new in regular black for $289 plus shipping off Audiogon. I also bought my very first record! http://www.minorityrecords.com/releases/min25/details/ A bit of an odd choice, but Machinarium has the best soundtrack of any game I know of. So trippy.
  9. Classic/prog rock, classical piano and guitar, jazz (not "smooth"), radiohead (a genre in itself), reggae are what I mostly listen to
  10. Thanks for all the advice! What are some essential albums on vinyl to try with my MC30s and my future La Scalas?
  11. I found a pair of La Scalas on Craigslist not too far from where I live. The guy is asking 1600 firm. Serial nos. 14S507 and 508 (1978) with AA crossover. I've never seen a La Scala with a full grill before. He was kind enough to email me these pics. I doubt I'll see any La Scalas this nice in my neck of the woods for a while. Should I get them?
  12. I think I might settle on a Debut iii in black (they seem to go for a little cheaper than the P1). I'll probably upgrade the cartridge later on. I really love the style of both tables (sleek and minimalistic). It's exactly what i'm looking for to go with the decor
  13. Thanks Yeah, $500 is pennies in the audio hi-fi world but I don't have a lot of money to work off of (I'm a poor college student). I was fortunate to inherit the MC 30s from my grandpa and I got the preamp for $120. The La Scalas will set me back about a grand. For now a "cheap" turntable will have to do until I can afford a better one.
  14. I will shortly have a stereo set up consisting of a Klipsch La Scala pair, McIntosh MC-30's, and a Parasound P/HP-850 preamp. All I need now is a turntable (and albums). I'd like recommendations for a turntable+cartridge that can be had for under $500. Any suggestions?
  15. I have a pair of vintage McIntosh MC30 tube amps (telefunken pre's, JJ power) and I'm trying to decide between a set of Cornwall II's and KLF-20's or 30's. I am a bachelor with virtually unlimited space so the size of the speaker isn't an issue. I like the fusion of horn-loaded drivers and modern tower speaker design in the KLF's, but I'm drawn to the Cornwalls because of their sheer size. They will be in a 12x15ft room along the short wall. So I guess my first question is, which speaker will sound the best with the MC 30's? My second question is, does the larger mid horn on the KLF have better dispersion?
