  1. IT'S BASIC ALL OVER AGAIN! That, however, is an order I'm happy to follow [] A Merry Klipschmas indeed. While I'm here, this future listening room is my bedroom, so I'm definitely a happy camper. I've woken up and fallen asleep to these for the last couple of days. Dad can have 'em when I leave []
  2. Dennie, I see you're in CA, if you ever happen to make it down to LA area, stop by for a listen! I'm up in Lancaster/palmdale area. Invitations always open to any forum member for that matter. I took the khorns down to pwcpwc for an in-home demo as he was thinking of purchasing some (that conviction has now been TOTALLY solidified post-demo) []. The man grills a mean steak. This community is awesome. I will likely be seperating and living in San Diego permanently (hopefully) when I get back from next deployment as long as job offer doesn't expire during my last hoorah! Ah well, will burn that bridge when I get there. To rest of forum members following this thread, trying to get my dad on here so he can give you his impressions of HIS speakers now. Gotta pry him outta the room for that to happen though so may have to be patient on that end for....awhile []
  3. Thank you for the kind words. I love what I do, and will pass the sentiments along to my brothers. We're pullin out again next month. And runninshine, I will DEFINITELY keep all posted on the Jubs. I'll only get about 2 weeks of enjoyment out of them before I'm gone, so no post at the 100 day mark, but once I'm back I should be home for good. Can't wait.
  4. She knows he's wanted this forever. SWMBO is happy and WAF-O-Meter reading is positive [] Dad is a lucky man in that respect. I definitely cleared it with her before bringing them down. I love my dad but I'm not an idiot, haha.
  5. Back story fairly simple, was raised loving and lusting after that sound. I've been fortunate as of late and ordered him brand new 2011 Cherry Khorns, factory direct []. The other speakers actually aren't Heresy, though they look like it. They're Epicure M100s. As for my system? I go home to Jubilees...they arrived TODAY!! [] Coworker took shipment and expected damage. I trust his opinion and he gave the thumbs up, so this is a good holiday season all-around. I also have Heresy's in my system as surrounds.
  6. Thanks! He's literally wanted these longer than the 27 years I've been alive. He'd take this over a lexus/bentley any day. Simple man with simple desires (fine audio being one of them []), all traits I'm happy to have inherited
  7. And FINALLY....IT'S GO TIME!! Came out swingin with the "sultans of swing" on a GREAT press. That little 18 WPC Scott is still blowing my mind. I'd never heard this pairing before but that little thing is a CHAMP! This look on his face was all I was ever waiting for. Captured it [] Tomorrow Should be a fun day!
  8. Then he sees the card, and the realization sets in that these are actually for him. I think he was in legitimate disbelief. He thought I'd bought them for me and came down to show him []
  9. Exactly, my parents have never been anything but supportive, and my dad's my best friend. Parents off for the evening now so I can finally relay the story. This was hilarious. My dad usually comes home and always comes back to this room. Naturally, today is the one day he deviates from the routine. After greeting me, he sits in the living room to watch TV with us...AND THEN DOZES OFF! He came too and started reading threads (was logged in under my name), and came across mine! It took him a minute to register. Think it finally clicked when he saw me cracking up after he said "hey that room looks a lot like our back room" Well, the pictures tell the rest...[]
  10. For the first time in his life...my dad was SPEECHLESS!! Everything I thought it would be. We're jammin out now. Uploading pics. Comin' at ya in the next 20 min or so []
  11. He had a meeting after work. Still about 30 min out. He still doesn't know I'm here so he's not in a rush. Any minute now. Updates to follow soon!
  12. And the li'l Scotty powering the Khorns! That's my phone plugged into it playing mp3s (hardly even close to ideal) and these things are STILL booming! They actually sound AWESOME with the Scott. Was in no way expecting this. Seals in corners are perfect and bass is shaking the walls. Guest bed will be leaving the room after the holidays and it will become dedicated listening room. Meant the wall the speakers is on is 13 ft. I think the room 18 ft deep. Treatment options to follow, but these sound goooood. Can't wait to run the vinyl and cd's through them. Moreso, can't wait to see the look on his face! He has no idea these are waiting for him. He gets home in about 2 hours. This is gonna be AWESOME!! Will try to catch the look on his face and post pics. He's wanted these things longer than I've been alive, so figured I'd get him some [] Marry Christmas POP!
  13. That wall is 13 ft wide, room is deep, but not ideal. Will get rug for the wood floors and treatment panels. Here's the rest of his toys. He's got a couple turntables, Technics/Pioneer, and Sony CD Player along with an Akai and Yamaha receiver.
  14. Alright, dad comes home from work in a couple of hours. He thinks I'm coming home for the holidays this evening, but I've actually been driving across the country the last two days and got in this morning right as he left for work. I've been working on setting up a little Xmas surprise for him when he gets home this evening. Check it out!
  15. Very nice I would very much like to see a photo. Absolutely. That will have to wait until early Jan, however. Although they arrive next week, I won't be home until early Jan. Heading home for the holidays to deliver khorns to my father and leaving in the morning. He has no idea, NIB 2011 cherry khorns coming his way. He's wanted these things longer than I've been alive. I was raised lusting after this sound, so should make for a killer Christmas! [] I'm sure he'll be on the forum shortly thereafter. I'll call it my 2-channel listening room...1900 miles away from my HT []
  16. On that note, Rigma, u have a PM
  17. Was unaware of that. Open to explanations definitely. Very handy with a soldering iron so no issues there.
  18. Actually, scratch that question/issue altogether. Scored a pair of Dx38s cheap (relatively) so looks like I'll be sticking to that route. Been a good day! Thank you all for the input though. Also have bass-bin and surround/rear amp issue solved, so all that really remains (the final piece!) is what amp to pair with the 402s? Will have TAD drivers someday (if they ever arrive) but K69s for the next couple of months. I'm sure there have been several combinations tried. Any recommendations here? Music above all, but occasional HT use as well. Don't want to break the bank, but also want to get it right. I'm guessing that would put max budget at +/- 2k...flexible limit. Used almost a certainty. A'gon is flooded w/ amps right now it's a buyer's market. It's all coming together [] this has been a FUN journey thus far.
  19. I know it's been awhile since the last post on this thread, but I figure this is as good a place as any to find a good concentration of Jub owners (which will include myself shortly). My question is on active crossovers: I know a lot use the XTi's and others use the Dx38 or even the DC-one. I'll be running a JubScala Center as well in my surround setup, and the Ashly Protea processors feature 3 in, 6 out, negating the need to buy multiple processors (a bonus I would think). Has anybody tried anything other than XTi/EV stuff? Is there anything about the Ashly that should make me run the other way? Particularly looking at the Ashly 3.24CL-d with adjustable delays. Any thoughts guys? Lay some knowledge on me! I'll be running the surrounds/rears on seperate amp so no need for active crossover there, just on the front 3. Will post pics of setup as soon as I get it all configured. They arrive next week, but I'm out of town for the holidays. Will get it all set up right when I get back in Jan, and would like to have my crossover in-hand by then. Thanks in advance y'all. this forum rocks. -Dan
