  1. I am actually not familiar with these models so it would be wrong for me to comment on them. I can say without hesitation that bluetooth audio does not sound nearly as good. I have a new Ford Fusion with the Sync system. I have a USB port that I keep a thumb drive plugged into with about 300 sougs. I also have the option of USB audio, which I use sometimes for audio books or podcasts when I travel. Spoken word doesn't really make much difference and I like it for the convenience factor. But if I try to listen to music via bluetooth audio it is awful. Terribly compressed with no dynamics. I can't live with it.

Sorry I can't help with your other question. I am just not familiar with those models. I'm sure that someone else on this forum will be able to help you.

Actually, it depends on what kind of Bluetooth you have. We waited to release our Image ONE Bluetooth headphones until the Bluetooth audio technology had matured. We essentially use the latest and greatest Hi-Fi Bluetooth (A2DP + aptX®) for lossless audio quality.

Image ONE (II) will be bassier than the Reference ONE sound signature.

  2. Hey guys,

I have been through at least 4 different types of in ear headphones (Monster iSport, Sennheiser 685, etc) that have the in line remote/volume control. Each of them I have ordered through Amazon I have returned because after 3 or 4 heavy workouts (sweat a lot), the volume control always shorts out. The Ipod will bring up volume control, music starts to skip all over, etc. It's been painful.

I just ordered a pair of the S4 ruggeds as I try to find a brand that actually is waterproof around the in line volume control. Anyone have these and tested to make sure that the inline remote is also waterproof?

Just fyi, there are absolutely ZERO headphones out there that are "waterproof". No sound would come out if they were haha. But the S4i Ruggeds should be just fine for a sweaty workout. I actually use the S4As when I workout (and I sweat quite a bit) and I haven't had any issues.

You may also want to consider the A5i Sport: click here

For North Americans, our headphones have a 2 year warranty, so you can also buy with confidence!

  3. Yup, clarity and plenty of bass.

The X10i will have a punchier bass than the X7i and an aluminum design. It's really a matter of personal taste between the two headphones. The ceramic design of the X7i is jewel-like but the X10i is super sleek. The X7i, sound-wise, is geared towards those who want a very neutral and accurate response. The X10i is obviously accurate as well but has a punchier bass.

  4. The Image ONE II will be bassier than your Reference ONEs. The flat cups of the Image ONE II are a little bit better regarding noise isolation and comfort. The flat cables of the Image ONE II are also an advantage. Mic has been improved as well.

Thank you for the kind words!

  5. There are a number of posts about non-standard wiring, it's Google's fault, it's Samsung's fault, it's Motorola's fault, etc. (I have a Razr Maxx running ICS and your solution is I should get a new version of Android, which isn't available).

The fact is there are a huge number of phones these headsets are not functioning with. It has been months since these have been on the market and I think you have 3 options as I see it:

    - stop selling this as "Android" compatible, or at least fully disclose the problems to purchasers

    - Fix the problems

    - Refund money for people with incompatible phones

I bought your product, now support it.

It's not an excuse, it's simply the nature of an open operating system platform. We have to buy each of these Android phones to verify compatibility. Our headphones product manager is buying a Razr Maxx this weekend to see if there's anything they can do.

  6. Klipsch / I am always on head-fi (username is Alex L) and know that this segment exists and its influence...but ya, sales are sales. Wouldn't rule anything out but that's the fact of the matter.

Btw, you should be happy we discontinued the X10 because you are getting them for cheap on Amazon! haha :)

Thank you very much for the kind words!

  7. I believe that the Klipsch Marketing strategy is to replace the X10 with the X10i assuming that the audiophile would be able to simply ignore the Apple controls and the microphone. This just isn't reality and I believe that audiophiles will look elsewhere for high-end IEMs.

Disagree in your wild assumption that audiophiles have some sort of hate for iOS devices.

  8. Considering both comfort and sound quality, the X10 is the best IEM. I have been recommending the X10 to friends and colleagues and everyone has been quite pleased with the performance. On the other hand, I was very disappointed to see that the X10 has been discontinued! It seems that the X10 has been replaced by the X10i which is essentially an Apple headphone product complete with controls and a microphone that functions with Apple products. Unfortunately, the X10i is not a product that will be taken seriously by a serious audiophile. Most all manufactures of IEMs offer a standard IEM that does not provide a microphone or Apple controls because they realize that many customers of high-end IEMs don't use Apple products and therefore have no need or desire for the microphone and Apple controls. They see these frills as additional components that can become points of failure. When these customers notice that only an Apple version of the X10 is available (X10i), they will quickly look elsewhere to another manufacture of IEMs that is more catering to the audiophile market and Klipsch will loose these sales.

Unfortunately at this time, Klipsch doesn't even offer a flagship (non-apple) IEM product because the X10 has been discontinued! I believe that discontinuing the X10 was a mistake that sends a message to the IEM market that Klipsch is only interested in the Apple Market. In other words, if you don't want or need the microphone on the X10i and the Apple Controls, then you as the customer should take your business to another IEM manufacturer that offers IEMs without the microphone and Apple Controls.

Hopefully Klipsch will change its strategy and bring the X10 back into the product line as a standard flagship product offering. Klipsch should offer both the X10 and the X10i.

The X10i sounds exactly like the X10. We are simply adding features to the X10. Adding features without sacrificing quality shouldn't be a bad thing. I am surprised you feel so strongly against iOS products. You have to consider how the majority of people listen to music...its via their mobile device which is usually an iPhone or Android in most cases. The remote/mic add significant functionality to those devices. The days of people listening to dedicated music devices is pretty much over.

When we discontinue something, we do it for a reason. This group of people you are referring to as "audiophiles" who automatically dismiss an product that has iOS compatibility is an absolutely tiny/minuscule number of people. In reality, that's not really the case. Plenty of audiophiles use and LOVE their iOS devices.

The fact that X10 was discontinued allowed a lot of consumers to pick up the X10 from Amazon on an extraordinary discount. It has been discontinued for quite some time and the fact that it had to be offered at such a low price should tell you something.

That being said, we do take our customer's feedback into account, so thank you very much for your message. Maybe we will offer the X10 sans remote again in the future. We do offer the S4 sans remote as you may have noticed.

  9. Well, certain after-market tips won't even fit on our headphones. You have to be careful. We have a very good relationship with Comply Foam (http://www.complyfoam.com/) and they make some great tips for all of our in-ear headphones. It is totally acceptable to use these.

We put A LOT of research behind the shape, size, materials of our in-ear tips and we believe they will provide the best isolation and quality for our in-ear headphones. We do acknowledge that everyone's ear tips are different. That's why we offer a variety of tips with our products...but we know that a select few will not like any of our tips and go with Comply Foam. Everyone's ears are different. That's the reality of the situation.

  10. Place of Purchase sent me to the regional distributor. I went there, they told me that since I bought them over a year ago to get a cable repairer to fix them, they sent me across town to Sim lim tower (a budding full of electronics stores). I went there and asked more than a dozen cable outlets but all said no. So after 3 taxi fares and a solid soaking in the rain I am no better off than I started.

I spend half my time in Audtralia and half in Singapore. I am happy to send them to a repairer and happy to pay. Just wish I could find someone to take on the job. As you know these are amazing earphones but too expensive to replace at a whim.

Please send an email to feedback@klipsch.com (this is the email for an escalated level of customer service), detailing everything and any receipts you may have.

  11. I found that if I rotate the tips about 90 degrees from the recommended postion, things are much better.

I wonder then, if having this recommended position does more harm than good. I've seen quite a few complaints (on other forums) about these buds having no bass. This is probably why. I

What headphones are you coming from? These headphones are designed to be less bassy and thus more neutral & accurate compared to our other models like the S4i.

  12. I noticed that I was getting almost no bass from these headphones, so I finally sat down and really played with all the tips and positioning of the headphones in the ear. I finally found a position that actually allowed me to hear bass. The problem is that it is an awkward position. A natural position of these headphones in the ear would be for the curvature of the headphones to point downward, or at least mostly so. Unfortunately, the optimal position for me is for the headphones to cure almost straight forward, 90 degrees from their 'natural' position. (given that there's a cord hanging from them.

Also, I need some medium tips with flanges. Are these available?

And finally, when I bend the cord coming out of the right earbud just a little too much, the sound cuts completely out.

Give us a call at 800-KLIPSCH and we may be able to hook you up with some medium double flange tips. Regarding the other stuff, you just may not have the ears that fit best with our tips...You could try Comply Foam tips: www.complyfoam.com

  13. Sorry Alex wish I could but have tried probably 20 pairs of those headphones that wrap around the ear and just cannot do them. They just seem to always make my ears hurt after around ten minutes or so.

Gotcha. The S4i Ruggeds work well too. No around the ear design but they are moisture resistant and durable.

  14. This just started. Then, before Voice Control actually starts, it switches to my Music and starts to play whatever's up next. When it does this, even if I turn the music off, the earbuds won't work as a microphone so I can't use it to talk on phone calls. I bought these about 6 months ago at an Apple Store. Can this be fixed?

Do you have any other three button remote headphones you could try? If this don't work either, than obviously its an issue with your iPhone....If you don't, call 800-KLIPSCH or email support@klipsch (if you are in the US) and we will take care of things.
