  1. Thanks psg. In the area where horn bins and KPT-684 overlap, whould KPT be able to compete w/horns in SQ? The lowest frequency is of no concern.
  2. All, thanks for you replies. I found several listings for $1200, but not in my area, so $1500 does seem a bit too much. Seller is not replying anyway. The search goes on.
  3. Hi, La Scala (Studio A) $1500.00 on Rochester Craigslist: http://rochester.craigslist.org/ele/2946786135.html Is Studio A some pro version of LS. Is $1500.00 a good deal for LS. I sent that guy couple of emails. No reply so far. Thanks, Serge
  4. iwander I am located in the suburbs of Buffalo. I am deciding whether to go w/HIII, stretch to CIII or LS, or get those Forte's. And also can't get Danley's out of my head. Too many choices. Are yours in good condition? I posted links of what's on Craigs from Heritage line in Buffalo in my other post. Thanks
  5. Thanks for replies everyone. I am located in the suburbs of Buffalo. There are currently 3 listings for Heritage speakers and I am torn: http://buffalo.craigslist.org/ele/3013539009.html http://buffalo.craigslist.org/ele/3016621535.html http://buffalo.craigslist.org/ele/2992245223.html
  6. There's one on Craigs in my area... Thanks
  7. Hi, KPT-684(and similar pro offerings) is a bass-reflex sub with large pro motors and lightweight cones that give it sensitivity of 105 db. This puts KPT-684 in the horns territory. Would these characteristics cure any direct radiator shortcomings (such as muddy bass) in comparison to horns. What would be the advantage of using horn bins from Jubilee, K-Horn, or other bass horn designs vs 2 KPT-684 units. Thanks, Serge
  8. Thnaks gnatnoop Do you have to EQ at all?
  9. Thanks seti Youtube Klipsch videos show that room size is mostly being disregarded and people are still happy, so I may just do the plunge.
  10. Thanks Don I've seen postings for used Yorkvilles relatively cheap. They've been around for some time. Too many choices...
  11. Thanks tragusa3 Did you have a chance to listen to their newer SM line? SM-96 or SM-60F
  12. Thanks Coytee. I bet Spud is made w/HT in mind only.
  13. Thanks Chris. Funny you should mention using Jubilee's bass bin. I had a similar thought some time ago that in larger space than mine Volti Audio's big bass horn would've been a good fit with Danleys (I never heard either, was just day dreaming). I don't see that big horn on Volti's page anymore though. It looked similar to Jubilee's.
  14. Thanks artto. The less spraying - the better. I am set on horns. Too bad I didn't know about the Chicago Museum of Science installation (or about the existence of Danleys). Until about 2 years ago I did job related trips to Chicago for 6 years in a raw.
  15. Thanks Mossy bottom. I see that you have HIII's as well. How do you like them? I've read a user review somewhere that said HIII has seamless driver integration. Subjectively, when you are listening what is your perception of how low they go in comparison to LS.
  16. Thanks dtel, my comment on KPT-305 was misplaced. I was just curious if it would be appropriate for home audio setup. I searched this forum for k402 and the answer is yes.
  17. Thanks Dennie. I will try to audition the Danleys. I may ****** LaScalas if they come my way regardless of what I decide with Danleys.
  18. Tom, Thanks for the PM. I have lots of thinking to do.
  19. Thanks for the link djk, I didn’t notice SH-95 before. I was looking at SM-96 because of its lower LF response in comparison to other Danleys (as low as LaScala’s). I don’t need bass below 40-50Hz as the neighbors on the other side of a thin wall had a baby not long ago. I’d like to avoid chest thumping bass effect as I have no idea how it would affect the baby, so no subs for me. For the same reason I have not considered Cornwalls.
  20. Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I got more replies in few hours since I joined than at all the other forums combined.
  21. Hello, I am new to this forum. I know Klipsch forum is not an ideal place to ask about competing product, but it seems to be THE place to ask about running big horns in less then ideal rooms. So here it goes. I am interested in audio only, no sub, in 11.5’x14.5’ room. I initially considered La Scala, but figured they were too much for such a small room. I was ready to pull the trigger on Heresys III when I saw a comment at Audiogon about Tom Danley’s pro horns being at the forefront of horn speaker design. Tom was kind enough to answer some of my questions on his SM-96(90x60) and SM-60F(60x60) in the link I pasted below. Even though I’d love to find out what a horn like that sounds like, I still think this may be similar to running K-Horn or LS in a small room and my thoughts turn to Heresys as a much safer choice. I am also concerned about these being pro rather than home audio. As not many people have heard Danleys I’ll confine my questions to general ones: should I even attempt running big horns like this in my small room. What about 90x60 vs 60x60 for my room? Any advice is appreciated. Has anyone attempted using something like Klipsch KPT-305 in small rooms. http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/vt.mpl?f=speakers&m=315499 Thanks, Serge
