  1. I saw a pair of Fortes in nice condition. The seller has pictures and the terminal cup is round and says nominal impedance 4 ohms. He has them listed as 8 ohm. I inquired about it and he said no, they are 8 ohm and linked to the Klipsch Forte tech specs. Weren't there 4 and 8 ohm versions? And am I right? I would prefer 8 ohm versions, I think, as I have an Onkyo 809.
  2. Thanks for the reply and info Fast. I was going between the Sho-10's and the ED Cinemas, and even the CS 1.5 and matching center, but I kept coming back to the older Klipsch. I am excited to say the least. The wife isn't going to be happy, but I don't care. I buy her all her toys, and it is about time I get some of my own. Like that 80" Sharp that I picked up two months ago. I can't take it with me...so.....
  3. Bill, Thanks for the great reply. I am already thinking of getting some goodies for the Academy, have tried to call Bob Crites but every time I call, the number is busy. He is either busy or I have bad luck. I will email him next. Would anyone know what I should get that will give me the best price/performance ratio on the Academy? I assume it would be the crossover? Maybe a titanium diaphragm? Thanks again. Edit: I did get a hold of Bob, nice gentleman, who recommended the titanium diaphragm right up front. Secondary the crossovers. As soon as I get my Academy and Fortes that is what I will do. Feels like Xmas to/for me. No need to worry yourself about that. Great start with the Academy and a pair of forte's(I or II) or Chorus'(I or II) will give you all you are asking for and them some. Klipsch are built to last. You will fit in just fine here. This is not the place to cure any audio addictions. Bill
  4. Long time lurker here. I just picked up a Academy speaker and now need either Fortes or Chorus IIs or?? My room is not a dedicated HT but it is nice, and big, around 3300 cu ft. I do have two ported 15" subs as well. Never have heard Klipsch speakers (please don't chastise me) but am going out on a limb here, will be for HT only. Want dynamics, soundstage and be able to clearly hear (clarity?) dialog (Academy) Getting on in the years and hearing isn't what it used to be. Looking at sizes the Fortes would probably be best but the Chorus would probably be ok as well. Any info or advice would certainly be most appreciated. I want this setup to last me for the rest of my lifetime, hence, I would probably be throwing some upgrades into them (Crites). And I can't be talked out of it, so don't even try. Thanks to any.
