when you eat natural whole foods in original lform, you can stop worrying about carbs, fats, cholesterol, and all the rest. You can simply stop being concerned and you will feel like $1 million dollars. Most people don't believe this. try it, you will fall over backward at the improvement in health.

This is true.  I switched, and the difference is clear.

you should have a BMI of 20.

I take some issue with this. Using me as an example...

I am 5' 10". I weigh 177. That's a BMI of 25.4. If I had a BMI of 20.1, I would weigh 140. When I got down to about 170 during my dieting, I was told by some that I was beginning to look scrawny. They were correct. My facial features were becoming sunken, etc. It looked kind of like I was drying up. I think my ideal weight is about 175 - 185. I regularly lift weights, do HIIT running/walking, and also, I play basketball on Saturdays. At 47, I am probably close to my peak fitness ever, and I was athletic in high school.

Some people my height might look good at 140 pounds. I know people like that, and they look fine. But my build is different. It is athletic. It needs meat on the bones... a muscular butt and muscular legs, shoulders, etc. I think this feels healthy and strong. I could not see myself ever weighing 140. I'd look very, very sick at that weight, and I might even be very, very sick at a weight like that.

I think people carry weight differently.

I have an easy indicator.  You should be able to see your ribs.  A woman should have the two dimples above her butt clearly visible.

Now there are times where I can see my ribs and my stomach is not where I like it (like right now) but these indicators do help.

i say a men should be able to see penis. if not, big trouble ahead!

  2. My junk food addiction is usually 72% Dark Chocolate and some dried fuit. I will never give up chocolate.

    I weigh the same as I did in highschool: 135 @ 5'10"

VERY RARE!! LOL - good for you!!!! most people gain mucho weight and get to old age with way way too much weight. You are rare!!! BTW, chocolate is natural and good for you in small amounts.

ok, i am not talking about LOOKS. I am talking about medicine and health. if YOU are BMI 25 and you don't take blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes medicine - then fine...look however you enjoy. But I can tell you that if you are on those meds with a BMI of 28 (lots of people) and you reduce your BMI to 20, you will more often then not lose all those meds!! THAT my fri3end is huge huge news for people. If I look a lillte too skinny, I don't care since I am off all those meds.

your point about appearance is fine. I understand you. But, when you get in 60s and 70s you need to be SO CAUTIOUS ABOUT HEALHT!!!LOL - you weant to be healthy? lower your BMI!!!

  4. About a year ago I significantly reduced my intake of:

    1. Sugar

    2. Artificial Sweeteners (diet soda!)

    3. Salt

    4. Caffeine

Cutting down helped such a great deal. In my specific situation, I'd would definitely say that artificial sweeteners were having the biggest negative impact on my 'well being'. Blurred vision, dizziness, headaches, anxiety are hopefully a thing of the past.

using fake foods like artificial sweetener is almost worst than junk food. It is junk food. chemical food is poison. i advbise no one should eat chemicals as food. it is pure rubbish and it is not needed. if you have a sweet tooth, buy some grapes!! lol - not fake foods.

the food you eat should not have a long list of chemicals,. fake flavor enhancers, preservatives. thaty's all rubbish. Buy some apples and eat them. no chemicals needed, no preservatives needed. eat some beans, some broccoli, some bananas, some grapes, some tomatoes. no chemicals or fake flavor needed, no spices needed. no nothing. just eat the food as it grows. youor body is not a robot. it was not designed for chemical additives. it evolved on natural food.

you should have a BMI of 20. if you don't, any you are over 50, you will probably need high blood presure meds, and matybe diebtes meds. OUCH! but if yuo get to a BMI of 20, and you eat natural foods, guess what? no more high blood pressure and no more cholesterol meds and no more dioabetes (in many case).

if you are over 50, the most important thing for your health is getting to a BMI of 20. it can be done easily on a natural food plan. maybe it will taker 6 m,onths or a year, but you can easily get there. If you gwet into your 60s and 70s wityh a high BMI you will be on many pills and meds and be unhealthy.

stop cooking recipes! stop using spices including salt papper. Stop manufactured foods. eat only tiny amount of cheese and egg and meat. eat whole original natural foods and become a KING! like Jeff M said...your humger will subside to a differnet kind that is feeling much better.

the USA is eating all wrong and it shows. the USA is obsessed with manufacturing food for the purpose of "having fun" instead of "good nutrition.' Ferget the FDA pyramids and all that. rubbish, pure and simple. made to promote grains and meat and dairy. GARBAGE. eat raw, eat natural become a god.

Want to feel 18 again? Give up breads grains!

Any good alternatives you can suggest?

I grew up on white bread and in recent years my wife has been packing my lunches with different types of 'whole grain' breads in an attempt to be more health conscious but from some of the things I've read here and there I don't know what's good and what's not. I'm still very uninformed on this but that needs to change.

its very simple. shop only in the fresh food section and load the cart with vegetables and fruits. then go to meat section and get lean beef and chicken. make 90% of your meals just vegetables and fruit as it occurs. don't make recipes out of them, just eat them as found or heat them until soft (green beans, and such). eat no more than 3 or 4 ounces of the meat each day - no deep frying. no skin on chicken. add a few nuts here and there--not too many. add a few eggs per week. no more packaged foods, no bread, no pasta, no cereals, no grains. no prepared foods. no resterants, no fast food. . in 2 weeks you will feel like $1 million dollars. lesson? people make food too complicated for the purpose of having fun with it. the body hates that.

  7. Bread and grain is controversial.

    1. These highly processed and engineered foods are new to modern man. Not necessary, and not yielding good results.

    2. Dr. Wm. Davis contend that modern hybrid wheat contains a protein that excites the hunger switch in brain. The more you eat, the more you want. Result? Obesity epidemic.

    3. Stop wheat for two weeks you no longer even miss it.

    4. Of you are overweight, weight loss occurs easily when you stop grains.

    5. Wheat is totally not essential to nutrition.

    6. Wheat glutens are becoming ubiquitous in processed foods. About them like the plague.

    7. If you have diabetes these simple carbs are very bad.

    8. Government says EIGHT servings a day of whole grains!! Lol complete BS! but I bet lots of people follow the government recommendation with faith!

  9. The baseline analysis is: How effective is this for medical use?

Not, how many criminals are using this? How many crazy drug addicts are using this? Imagine if that was the main analysis for guns!

Baseline: these opiates are highly effective for pain, and are very easy on the liver and kidneys compared to all other anelgesics. Better than NSAIDS, better than aspirin, better than acetaminophen, and for god sake way better than psychotropic drugs like cymbalta.  Downsides: yes, you can become dependent and in some case addicted, but responsible people - like actual medical patients - can be weaned off thisd drug with a minimum of fuss using Suboxone. etc. If my problem disappear tomorrow, I will go to doc and say, "time to get me off opiates." She will send me right to the Suboxone doc, and in 3 weeks or so, I will be off. Big deal. I hatee that the main discussion is always shifted from legit medical patients and their doctors to crazy drug addicts and criminals. Would we ban money because criminals are using it in the drug trade? Make every money user sign a "money contract" and be subject to intrusive banking searches?

mostly, "very healthy people" who never have experienced serious chronic pain or disease resent people on opiates - lets face it. And, cops and dea and pols and lawyers are endlessly looking for more pie to stick their fingers into. more ways to arrest and hassle and criminalize people. . 25000 people a year die in car wrecks. sad, but true. some people die from abusing opiattes, sad but true. Leave the sick people to deal with their disease and their doctors, and stop trying to push them around to make your egos feel better. focus on pill factories if you like. I, and others with sickness, have nothing to do with them.

this whole fiasco reminds me of: 2002 TSA agents looking up 90 yr old grannies skirt, and feelin up her boobs for bombs. looking dipers of 3 yr old girls for bombs.

  10. Whats not documented here are the many millions of sucess stories of people helped by these very pain meds. The ending of untold suffering and pain, the increased life goals, the improvements in families.

It would be wrong to see this as just so many overdose deaths.

  11.

I still don't understand these people dying from Hydrocodone. Is the cause of death liver failure? All of the Hydrocodone prescriptions I have had and have seen all have Acetaminophen in it like 5/325. You can only have 1000-1200mg of acetaminophen in one dose which is only 3-4 pills Vicodens (4*325=1300). Simple math again here tells me 4*5=20 or 20mg of hydrocodone is killing people? I doubt it. If you were to take enough Vicodens for respritory to shut down it would have to be like 10 Vicodens (50mg of hydrocodone) which would be 3250mg of acetaminophen!!!!!

I just don't see the correlation here? This most recent year is the only year hydrocodone was the number one prescribed drug? And because of that fact more people are dying from them? And specifically they are dying from the hydrocodone compound and not the acetaminophen compound?

    I smell BS.

    Roger.

I'm sorry for your Friend's passing.  I won't ask your beliefs, but I hope He is in a better place and Pain Free.

In conversation with Pharmacists I have been told it is not the Oxycodone in Percocet, or Hydrocodone in Vicodin that is the real danger.  But the Acetaminophen (Tylenol) that burns out the liver.  Alcohol and Tylenol just makes it happen faster.  That's why they have reduced the tylenol in the compounds.

I have used controlled Pain medications for over 35 years now.  Been a productive member of society.  Employed until my Dr. told me I could not be expected to hold any job any more.  I disagreed and kept hoping to go back to work.  Well finally I did not have a job to go back to.  If I were to take a Nursing Job and anything went wrong while I was working against Dr.'s orders it would not be good.  So I give up.  I will try to live life as comfortable as I can.  Deal with the BS that I will have to go through to get the pain medications that help.

At least I know enough to be able to advocate for family members and advise as I see fit.

Man, that is rough. I have spent many years on pain meds and held dopwn all jobs with never a single complaint from anyone. I relize medicine field may be more sensitive, but it still sucks for you. I hope life works out good for you.

Americans are a generous and compassionate people. But they have been brainwashed their entire lives by the constant drumbeat of anti-drug propaganda coming from drug warriors, law enforcement and the criminal justice system, and endlessly parroted by self-serving politicians and the media.

Twenty years ago, the DEA made prescription drug abuse its primary mission after its survival was threatened because of its failure to have any measurable impact on the availability of street drugs. The DEA ginned-up a lot of bogus statistics about deaths supposedly due to prescription drugs by blaming deaths on prescription drugs if there were any narcotics involved, even if the drugs weren't the actual cause of death. Then they cranked-up their propaganda machine in concert with their allies in various public and private agencies who all have one thing in common; they owe their existence to the war on drugs. The media accepts press releases from these agencies and does stories on them without any critical examination of the claims being made. Mothers who lost their children to drug abuse are invited to testify before Congress, giving our representatives an opportunity to exploit their grief in a national spotlight for political gain.

The DEA has focused on doctors who prescribe a lot of pain medications to chronic pain patients because they are easy targets. Doctors keep good records and they have a lot of assets that can be seized. And the DEA is far more interested in seizing assets than they are in seizing illegal drugs. Doctors who prescribe narcotics are now living under the constant threat that they will be arrested by the DEA and prosecuted as if they were running a drug cartel.

Once arrested and stripped of all his assets, a doctor will be charged with tens, if not hundreds of individual crimes, so that they will be under tremendous pressure to plead guilty to lesser charges in order to avoid a lengthy prison sentence. Many doctors who are totally innocent cave-in and accept a plea bargain because they know the odds are stacked against them.

In a criminal trial, a jury of ordinary people are asked to decide whether a doctor's care was appropriate, based on the testimony of competing experts on both sides. Prosecutors who want to portray a compassionate doctor as a common drug dealer will hold up bags of pills and argue that the doctor was operating "outside the bounds of legitimate practice." One way they do that is by trying to confuse the jury about what the legal definition of "Standard of Care" really means.

"Standard of Care" aka Reasonable Physician Standard of Care is legally defined as being based on what the science (as reflected in the medical texts and journals) indicates is appropriate care.

But prosecutors and their hired-gun experts attempt to use "Community Norms" to show that the doctor is operating way out on the fringes -- beyond what "most doctors" would do. Community Norm is defined as what most doctors would do, but most doctors are afraid to do the right thing because of the chilling effects of DEA intimidation tactics.

Doctors who aggressively treat the patients who need the most pain relief are actually doing the right thing, based on any reasonable interpretation of the science. That puts those doctors outside the norm, and in the DEA's crosshairs, because most doctors won't prescribe ANY narcotics for chronic pain. Only a small percentage are willing to prescribe narcotics for the treatment of chronic pain, and the overwhelming majority of those will only prescribe to their comfort level, rather than their patient's. The tiny percentage of doctors who are courageous enough to put their patients welfare first are under constant surveillance by the DEA and routinely subjected to DEA sting operations.

You can make a difference, and you should try, because you and everyone you care about is at risk for having their life destroyed by untreated pain. Do not accept without question what is being spoon-fed to you daily by those who profit from denying pain medications to people who need it the most.

i thank thats a good analasis of what the dea is more really about. look folks, it's like any other cop agency...the liove to bust people, confiscate, hound, persecute, hassle, and so on. LOL!!!! nothing about them cares about your health or wellbeing folks!!!LOL they are cops plan and simple and nothing more fancy then that!! LOL heres what I know for sure - - my doc aint one of them dea type a*holes lookin' to grind the little guy.

  14. Here's someone with an agenda but another viewpoint.

    http://deasucks.com/essays/hydrowar.htm

well, dea never details its real agenda. people like to operate on superficial public consumption statements. well, that's fine foer the very naive, but has nothing to do with what is going on. its like people believing president candidates when they make speeeches. Who believes that nonsense? i sure don't. do you? well, why would dea heads be any more honest w/public than pres candidates? goiverment runs on agendas the publica can not see and the present the public with nonsesne to make them happy. let's at least remember that enforcement is dea mission, not health car.

  15. Ironically as i type this I'm at pain management waiting for the doctor to come in. My daughter's ex bf broke into my house last Thursday while my wife was sleeping and stole my pain meds. I'm here with police report to try and get another prescription. I'm sure some of you are thinking yeah likely story. For me i do get tremendous relief from them. It has been a rough week

I feel for ya. are you on a narcotics contract? the ones here are quite brutal and make the assumption you are a dead on criminal. there are clauses about stolen drugs and all sorts of nasty styuff. Hope you get yuor script!! good luck.

  16. Kid bilt drone gun. Amazin what powerful technologies are posible for anyone with couple $$$$$. they did not see this coming ibet!!!! Will there be rush for new laws???? There s ayoutube on it.

  17. The potential for Helium 3 is worthy of serious consideration.

If moon mining is feasible, go for it!

by watching sagan all week im very inspired about space travel of any kind. he was a genius of inspiration about space ex. he would be so sad by where we are now. i have five epsodes left. stunning writing for anyone intrested in space.

  18.

How do you contract these things?

The cause is not well understood. The mechanisms are better understood. Most seem to be triggered by an environmental cause (virus, chemical exposure), but the genetics have to also be in place. It is multiple genes that have to be just right for the trigger.

many many many people suffer with this kind of diseases and they are viewed with mostly skeptcisn by so many others. bog problem. sad how this is unfolding.

  19. I remember when ecstasy was legal.  If everyone who is healthy enough to take it would once or twice, then yes Rodney King, we all could just get along...

for many thousands of years mind-benting drugs were a significent part of spirit life of mankind.

many say modern man has utterly lost tuch with this understanding of purpose of drugs....its not hottubs sex starlets &rockroll....it was more kin to religius practices...spiritule practice. no one seems to remember.

people today are in psych pain...human pain...suffering. im not talkngin about medical...but socially. its why so many millions are seeking drug experience. it is natural. by withholding this experience...control is enhanced over little people.

    u seem tuned into this.
