  1. Hello!

For some reason, I get too much bass or too little even though I haven't touched the computer's volume mixer (Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS) and speaker volume controls.

With very little bass, I noticed if I turn my subwoofer from its lowest setting a little higher, then I feel a lot of bass for a second. Does the speaker have limit controller or something? I checked the cables behind the subwoofer, and they seems fine.

I wonder if my old speaker set is dying (time for a new speaker set). I have had it since December 1999. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, then how did you fix it?

    Thank you in advance. :)

  2. hi

recently damaged the din connector cable that plugs into the sub. anyone know where to buy another cable?

or does anyone know the wire termination to the back of the din connector. i pulled the wires out where they are soldered

to din connector. not sure which wire goes to which terminal. there are 8 wires. any info would be greatly apprciated.

    thank you

    vandamn

Did you ask Klipsch's support yet instead of forum?
  3. Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to stop by because it has been awhile. I purchased my speaker system 12/2000 and still am problem free. I did upgrade the preamp when came out. Had to return that once but had my original as a spare and no problems since. I use on my gaming pc 4-8hrs a day for that time and I'm still very happy with the way they sound.

    Rock On!!!

Mine still works too. I had it since 12/9/1999 (still have my print out and manual, heheh)! I never did that preamp switch even though I did have the annoying crackle sounds but it wasn't that annoying. I did have problems with my left speaker going deaf, but I found a lose cable behind my subwoofer AFTER I ordered cable replacements (oops -- I kept them just in case).

I will keep this speaker set until it breaks (except the cables if they can be replaced with the ones I ordered). I have no idea what I would get. Maybe another Klipsch brand?

  4. Woah! This thread is still here? Haha. Hi all too old and new people! I

was one of the oldies too. Still using my v2-400 speakers! However, I

came to Klipsch's Web site to e-mail the support for a cable

replacement. It seems like my front left speaker's cable to the

subwoofer is damaged due to static and I could mute the speaker in

specific positions. I hope it is nothing else.

  5. Hi all.

As you know DOOM 3's surround sound option doesn't work if you don't set surround sound speakers. Quadraphonic speakers doesn't work and disable this option in DOOM 3.

I was told that there is missing stuff due to lack of center speaker. Klispch ProMedia v2-400 is 4.1 setup. Is this true? Are you guys noticing this in yours? I have a SB Audigy2 and I don't seem to hear anything missing. I do notice the audio is louder with surround sound.

    Thank you in advance. :)

  6. Hi guys!

I am thinking of replacing my old Sound Blaster Live! Platinum (without its LiveDrive) with a M-Audio Revolution 5.1/7.1. I know 7.1 can't be used for this 4.1 old speaker setup. I am not planning to upgrade my speakers set any time soon. I will wait until it breaks or whatever. It still kicks butt after many years. :)

Will my old ProMedia v.2-400 be handle to take all/most of the features off this sound card? I am mainly using it for gaming, DVDs, TV shows (have an ATI Radeon 9800 AIW card -- might record but quality isn't important since I compress to DivX with low quality), and music (MP3s, CDs, music videos, streaming media, etc.).

    Thank you in advance. :)

u shouldve heard a difference with prologic II especially in movies. speech comes directly from the 2 front speakers and not from all 4 speakers if u had otherwise disabled prologic II. also, surround effects would have been more true to how the film-makers would've wanted their movie to sound... without prologicII, all sound comes out on ALL four speakers equally - no depth, no dynamics.

u can enable dolby digital decoding (im not sure about s.b. live though) instead of prologic when playing movies - dolby digital is much better than prologic II.

Thanks. I will enable External Pro Logic Processor/Dolby Surround Pro Logic II then. I didn't see Dolby Digital in the WinDVD options though, but I did see a small graphic text saying that in the player.

  8. Hi. I am not an audiophile so I need some feedbacks. Is it better to enable Dolby Surround Pro Logic II in WinDVD v4.0 and PowerDVD XP? I have a Sound Blaster Live! and an old set of Klipsch Promedia v.2-400 (4.1 setup). I wasn't able to hear the differences with and without Dolby Surround Pro Logic II.

    Thank you in advance.

Just launched myself a new job, a really great one.

Anyway out of joy I started drinking beer and cranking up the old pro medias!!

They still rock and if they blow ill be happy to go pick up the new 5.1's

Cheers Klipsch to a great product!!!

Same here! I have had my ProMedia Klipsch Promedia v.2-400 since 12/1999 (3 years old!). It still rocks. I don't need the fancy stuff (5.1 setup, etc.) since my hearing isn't good. I just want bass. :)

  10. Do any of you use Dolby Surround Pro Logic feature in WinDVD v4.x? Are there any advantages of having this audio feature enabled with Klipsch ProMedia v.2-400 (4.1 setup)? I know one difference is that all speakers (rear speakers too) will play even in stereo mode (e.g., MPEG videos). I can't seem to hear the differences with DVD movies since my hearing isn't that good. I wonder if Dolby Surround Pro Logic feature is very good to use.

    Thank you in advance. :)
