He certainly isn't happy with the phono stage, and also the bluetooth is so-and-so.

Connecting your cd player optically (or digitally) should give an amazing sound, though.

Edit: I just found out there is an amazing price drop at amazon. The Sixes are now only $599.

I own the sixes and can attest that both the bluetooth and phono are horrible. The 3.5mm audio input is surprisingly good. I use the Schiit Mani for my phono stage and it sounds wonderful.

Bottom line in my opinion - you might be disappointed in the bluetooth but the amp itself drives the speakers nicely for the pricepoint and the multiple sources are convenient.

  2. Thanks wuzzzer - the sub has low pass adjustment and gain adjustment. set both to about 10:00 with phase at 0. Have a good cable connected to LFE jack on sub and Sixes. Subwoofer adjustment (via remote) at mid-point on the Sixes. I'll go from there. Thanks for the advice.

  3. After years (decades) of not having a stereo setup, I've finally requisitioned a room in the house and outfitted it with the Sixes, a U-Turn TT and a Schiit pre-amp. My God,  I forgot what I was missing. I plan to move to a set of Heresys or Fortes in the not too distant future. In the meantime I couldn't pass up the R-120SW on sale for 224$. Probably a mis-match for the Sixes but I'd appreciate any guidance on where to start with the settings on the sub or other thoughts. I've got it connected and took it for a little spin. I'll be working this weekend on getting it tuned in a bit.

    thanks...tom

  4. I ordered the external Pluto preamp from Orbit and just hooked it up. I blows the Klipsch internal preamp out of the water but i'm still underwhelmed. I have a Schiit Mani on backorder but won't have it until late august.

I'n not knocking Klipsch for what they've done with The Sixes - for the casual or entry-level music lover, it's a great way to get your feet wet and be able to play music from many sources.

  5. I have to say that I'm initially disappointed with the sound I'm getting from The Sixes using my new U-turn Audio Orbit turntable. I ordered the turntable without a preamp planning to take advantage of the internal preamp in The Sixes. I've read some reviews, including this one that suggesting that the preamp in The Sixes is not that great. Has anybody on this forum come to  a similar conclusion?

    Thanks...Tom
