I would just look for foam that's as close to what's in your original RF-82s.

I think I will leave it that way. My friend helped me to bring the speakers upstairs to do the A/B test and I don't hear any difference between them. But I still want to know if the RF-82 II design is without internal foam or the original owner removed them. Thanks wuzzzer for all your replies.

  2. Hi wuzzzer & wvu80. Thank you for your reply.

I don't want to remove the foam in my existing RF-82 because it is my current set up.

I can insert my hand inside the port of RF-82 II and I can tell that there's no foam from top to bottom (where my hand can reach) unlike the RF-82. It is already in my basement and too heavy (for my age) to carry upstairs and do A/B test to know the difference of the two. I am still looking for a used RC-62 II so I can set up and test my second unit.

It is ok without foam inside if it is the original design of the F-82 II but want to add if it should have. That's the reason I'm asking a favor for any member who owns RF-82 II if their speakers got foam pad inside.

@wvu80, I'm from Toronto Canada. Tried to edit my profile but for some reason it is locked or maybe I don't know how to edit them 🙂

    Thanks again,

    Yel

  3. Hi,

I'm a new member here but from time to time a lurker to this site. I have Klipsch home theater speakers (RF-82/RC-62/RS-42) set up in my family room and very happy with them. I want to set up a new home theater in our basement and want the same set up. I bought a used RF-82 II and RS-42 II from Kijiji (same as Craigslist in US). Upon looking at the opening at the back I noticed that the RF-82 II have no internal foam pads. My old RF-82 have internal foam pads that from time to time I push back to its location when they get loose. I called the seller but told me he also bought it used from other kijiji member. I haven't set it up yet but I tested them to the seller's place and it is working. I'm still looking for center speaker. My question is why there's no foam inside the RF-82 II? Is it by design or previous owner removed it for some reasons?

For RF-82 II owners out there, please check for me if yours have foam pad inside. My other question is if there should be foam pad inside do I have to open the speaker cabinet and buy/install new foam pads, what is this foam pad for?

    Thanks and regards,

    Yel
