  1. Thanks William-Edster and Doug.I was very sure that the serial # would have nothing to do with the code pertaining to year built etc, because they are so short.

Figured the part number would hold the key. Thanks for trying to help Edster...but for me, trying to figure that code out, is like trying to read a newspaper in a mirror and upside down.Another thing that is different about these,is that the tag does not say Klipsch Forte II like all the pairs I have seen on E-Bay.It does say Klipsch Forte' II on the speaker hook up

    panel.They are definitaley Forte'IIs tho.

  2. The only info on the tag is as follows:

    P/N 09000531111

    F11 Oak Oil

    S/N 51196 + 51197

    W/O 9905

Hope that helps someone.I guess it is not a big deal when they were manufactured, but I would like to know for future reference.

They sound great too..Have already tested them with The

    Who..U2..and..ZZ Top...Next up is..Led Zep..Then The Beachboys..and some Beethoven..

  3. I'm tickled to death to say that I scored a great pair of Forte IIs today.I would like to get an idea of what year they were manufactured. The part number is: 09000531111.I am guessing that they are of 1990 vintage because of the beginning number sequence (0900).They are oiled oak and in perfect condition, except some minor fading on one side of one speaker. They were a one owner pair sold because they never got used.It was also stated that they are not rock and rollers.(Time to break em in).I feel like I stole them for the asking price of $425,and I picked them up an hour ago. They sound great!!One more question, how do you get the backs off?Woo-Hoo!Thanks.

  4. I purchased them today. They were bought locally by this woman and her ex in Aug '96.They appear to be in excellent condition and had been used very little.Paid

$125.The sub is a SWV,and of course is only an 8in powered, but it will suffice for now.All I have to do is figure out how to hook up the sub,I've never had one before...but will figure it out.cwm1.gif

Thanks for the help and advice guys.

  5. She did not say which model it was.I'll leave a message on her machine to have a look at the back of the sub,and see if she can give me a model. If it is a good sub,it might be a decnt deal, but would have to sell off the KM 4s.I don't think I would be satisfied with the speakers,as they would not compare to Forte's,

    imo.

  6. I've got an ad for Klipsch Forte's in my local paper.I just got a call from a lady who has a pair of Klipsch's,

but she does not know the model. Can anyone help identify them? The only info she could find on the back

was the letters KM4,and the serial number..361594341.

She related to me the following dimensions 33h x 11w x

10 1/2d.She was doing the measuring with a tape measure,

so I am assuming she was accurate.Shw said she thought her ex had purchased them in 96 or 97.I know they are not the forte's I am looking for,but the price she quoted me sounds good, and comes with a subwoofer.(all Klipsch)..Any help w/ identification would be great!

  7. Thanks for the advice guys! The combination of two issues do concern me.

1.Not being able to see the speakers "up close and personal".

2.Shipping.This is a big consideration, not only the expense, but the possibility of damage (as Jerohm mentioned).I am retired now,but was a freight driver before I retired, and I know firsthand how damage can occur, even when handled by professionals.

So,it comes down to whether or not to "take a chance".

I would rather find a pair in my area, but sadly they have been scarce lately.

  8. Thanks Clue:

Saw those earlier.I have never tried E-Bay,but there is always the first time.Did they start a little high to begin with? Most of what I have seen have been elsewhere, and seemed to start out a little lower than that.I wish I hadn't missed that set for $500...Shoot!

I have also noticed that there are no bids yet,but it is early and I will watch to see where it goes.If it gets too steep,I will stay quiet.I appreciate your informing me,

    Thank You!!cwm1.gif

  9. Thanks Mike for the advice,my first reaction was to just wait. However,I have been looking for some time now,and my feeling is that SOMEONE-SOMEWHERE-has my Forte's,and it may be someone on this board. So,if you are reading this message, and have my Forte's...GIVE'UM

    UP!!cwm14.gifcwm1.gifcwm1.gif

  10. My apology in advance for a stupid question.I have been looking in vain for a pair of Forte IIs.I just missed a pair three days ago that were in excellent condition for $500.

I then was offered a pair of Forte'IIs that have had the drivers replaced form a pair of Chorus IIs.They also have been internally braced, and dampening material has been added to the interior to further deaden the cabinet. The internal wires have also been upgraded.

My question is whether this is an advisable upgrade.

I would prefer to wait and hope to find a good pair of

unadulterated Forte IIs,as the pair I am being offered are priced at $600,as opposed to the $500 price for the pair I missed.

Anyone have some advice? (or have a pair of Forte IIs

    they would part with?)

    Thanks...Ted
