  1. I have my surrounds hooked up to an Amphony 1700 wireless transmitter/receiver.  The Amphony receiver provides the amplifier at 40W/channel to my RP-502s surrounds. Both the transmitter and receiver/amplifier have “volume“ knobs on them.

I’ve read about clipping caused by low power. Since it only supplies 40W, should I just turn both of them all the way up and let Audyssey properly set the volume?

  2. I have a Denon AVR-X1600H.  I would like to set up a second pair of front speakers for use sometimes. The manual says to set the “Assign Mode to Front B”, but lists this under Zone 2 in the manual. I have two questions:

1). If I am using the Front B’s, will I still get sound out of the center and rears since it is in Zone 2?  I assume so, correct?

    2) Do I need to run Audyssey for both configurations (Front A and Front B)?  Is that possible?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  3. I am looking to update my current SS.5 surrounds. I like the RP-502S, but don’t want to spend quite that much. Is there an older equivalent to this speaker?  I check Facebook Marketplace and usually see some good deals, but don’t know what the older equivalent to the 502S is...just so I can keep an eye out.  Any suggestions?

Also, there are always quite a few new-in-box Klipsch offerings on Facebook Marketplace.  Are these trustworthy?  Why so many new in box?

You can get something like the Klipsch Powergate that will allow you to run a pair of speakers wirelessly.

And, remember, if space and your room allows, the surround speakers in a 5.1 setup are side surrounds, not rear surrounds.

Wuzzer, I’ve looked into the Powergate, but not quite sure how it works.  How does the powergate get the signal from the AVR and how does the signal get to the rear surround speakers?speaker-placement-5.1.jpg

I did, but I thought this would be more straight forward.  It seems like avoiding wiring to rear speakers would be a common problem There should be a feasible solution built into newer receivers.

If newer receivers can’t transmit to these wireless speakers, what is the point?  Just connections to iPhones?

  6. I have a Denon AVR-X1600H  with Klipsch SS.5 rear speakers, SC.5 center and SB1 fronts. What’s the best way to get a rear wireless alternative?   Our current setup doesn’t allow for wires going to the rear. Thanks in advance for any help!
