I am not sure I follow where the Y adapter fits. Can you clarify for a newbie?

I want to install R-12SW to my home stereo with Yamaha AX-596 amp. It does not have a subwoofer output.

Can this be done? Yamaha recommended a Kicker KISLOC 46KiSLOC adapter. his looks like it is primarily used for car stereo installations.
