  1. Dear all, after having heard the ALK Crossover in comparison to the AA I now decided to go for them. Is anybody here arround in Germany who has a pair to sell or to build? If not I am going to contact AL personally. Jörg
  2. Thank you for sending me your photos. I bought the Klipschorn in Austria 4 years ago. First the seller offered a modified speaker. I told him that I only would be buy if the speaker is complete (orig. drivers and orig. crossover). The guy told me that he has been outside of Austria for more then 5 years. Before he left Austria he gave the midrange and high freqeuncy driver to a friend. When I insisted on the "old stuff" he started to search his his friend and finally he found him someware. The horns and crossover were still in stock and available. So the seller came back to me with a complete horn exept the motherboard. I assume that due to his modifications he damaged or wasted the motherboard. There are no signs of waterdamage on the tops and the basshorn. For the last 3 years I used them in my homecinema as Front L/R speaker just fixing the naked horns with some paper in the construction. I was always wondering why the sounded different then my La Scalas (one as a center two as rears). After a discussion with a friend of mine and having some time left and I realized what I have at the moment (s. picture). The improvment in sound was significant. The effect (better mid and high frequencys) were amplified by the change of my amplifier from McIntosh 225 to a Marantz 8b. Two weaks ago I found this forum started to read and then I put my question to this board. At least I am very interested to come close to the original. I still not sure if my understanding how to do the reconstruction is okay? Comparing the D and C type I am wondering that on my model the cabinet covering panel is shorter than the bottom or ground panel. Due to my listening expierence I learnd that it the speaker sounds realy different when I move my actual construcion for or backword. Looking forward for any advice. Jörg from Germany
  3. Dear HDbrbuilder, thank you for your fast response to my question. To avoid misunderstandings on my side I will tell you in my words what I will do next to follow your advice and come close to the original. All mesurements are in cm. Material will be multplex birke. I will take a panel 1.9 cm strong; 25cm x79.5cm where I will saw the holes for the horns. Then I nail or mount thick panel approx. 4cm strong 25cm x 10 cm. Doing so I can fix this whole contruction to your mentioned vertically mounted inside glue blocks(these are still in the cabinet). Later I can cover the construction with in grille cloth. Could you please tell me if this is the right understanding of your advice. If I do so the complet cabint is closed and the front panel will be approx. 2,5 cm behind the beginning of bottom panel of the cabinet an 1 cm behind the top panel repectivly. Due to my listenig experinece with the actual construction and on traces or shadows on the top and bottom panels of the cabinet I assume this could be right. You mentiod in your last sentence the diferences in "B" and "C" style cabinets. Do you have any experience to add these riser to my construction? Thank anyone for help in advance. If a photo is someware availble could be in addition a good help for me. Jörg from Germany
  4. Dear all, I need some help/advise on my Klipschhorn's. The horns (see attached picture have the serial no KCBR 19X630 respectivly 19x631. My problem is the how to correctly mount the midrange and tweeter horn in this Settop-box which I think is original. The drivers in the horn's are M55 V with the K400 and the K77 M as tweeter. The crossover network is a type AA. The bass is the E33. The mountig I did is surely not proper; this I learned already here in this forum. The wood thickness is about 15 mm. Becauise I also own LA Scala's I used the dimension of these to mount the Horns. Doing so the results in Midrange and heights improve dramaticly. But I think there is more space to improve if I follow the original construction. Thank you for your help in advance Jörg from Germany
