  1. Enuff Z'Nuff? HAHAHAHAH ... I forgot about those guys. And no, that band SUCKS.
  2. There is this phenomenon that I have a theory about and I'm just wondering if anyone/everyone has felt it too. I notice that I tend to grow into each different phase of my stereo system. Beginning from my first setup which was a small turntable/speaker combo box when I was 4 yrs old. What I mean is that on initial setup of new equipment I am always blown away at the way sound keeps getting better and better. After a few months/years my ears grow accustomed(go deaf) and it seems like the setup isn't good enough. So it's on to the next best thing right? I have a reference series setup right now, and I'm already thinking about Heritage and what some La Scalas or Horns may sound like. So, I guess it will NEVER be enough. At least until we're all deaf right?
  3. Analogman, one thing that really is a convincing factor in a sale are some fantastic photographs of the object of sale. Got any? It'd be interesting to see exactly why these amazing speakers are going for top dollar.
  4. I think this phenomenon is attributable to all Reference series speakers. For movies my 7's aren't harsh at all even at incredible volumes. But in stereo mode while listening to music I'm often turning down my treble to -2 and -4 on my Denon. And it's one of the warmer sounding amps! So I can see it being a real problem. As far as the break-in theory I'm not too sure about that. I've had my 7's for close to a year now and haven't seen the harshness go away, like I say, especially with music/2 channel mode. Makes me think that the real intent from the guys at Klipsch was for these Reference series speaks to be mostly for Home Theater. Someone correct me if they think or have heard otherwise.
  5. Dusty, here is a pretty decent review on the 3805: http://www.audioholics.com/productreviews/avhardware/AudioholicsReviewDenonAVR-3805.html Makes me wanna upgrade:)
  6. That 3805 sounds like a killer amp. I was totally blown away (and still am) at the performance of my 3802, now a couple years old. Get that 3805 and give us your review asap!
  7. I'm going to give 2 votes for the Denon. Yamaha is way too harsh, unless you like your ears to bleed at high volumes of course. My bro has the 3803, and I have the 3802. He runs KLF-30's and I'm running RF-7's. They kickass and make the klipsch's really shine. BUT, most importantly is YOUR ears. Who cares what other people think, it's you who has to decide and listen to each one and get the best feel for what you like. Good luck.
  8. You need to run Denon if you like your eardrums. My brother ran a Yamaha with his Legends and it was so bad he ordered his Denon 3803 the same day. The highs are way too piercing. Yamaha is known as a very bright sounding amp, as are Klipsch speakers because of their horns. You put those together and it's just way to harsh and doesn't sound good at all. I'm running a Denon 3802, and like I said my bro is running a 3803 and it makes the Legends and the Reference series sound golden. If you're into crazy highs and ear bleeding treble, then go with the Yamaha. Otherwise I highly recommend the Denon. My two bits.
  9. Jimmy, you'll also want to make sure that you specify in your amp settings what connector port is what. For example if you go with the optical cable you will need to go in the amp setup and specify the optical for DVD, VCR1, or whatever port you decide to go with. Clear as mud? Good. You probably knew this already anyway.
  10. Yeah lets see more pics. Good to get ideas from other people and their setups.
  11. Interesting. Never even heard of Zebrawood before. Kickass.
  12. Spent all your money on the home theater huh nicholtl? HAHAHAHAH ... Get ya a digital cam, they are all the rage.
  13. It's interesting to me how anti-black everyone seems to be in the forum. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a nice wood finish as much as the next guy, but black certainly has it's advantages. Our house is designed pretty contemporary too which is probably why I chose black. I'd love to see some images of some nice cherry or mahogany finishes in the reference series. Anyone?
  14. The La Scalas? VERY pretty. Way to go on the custom center channel too ...
  15. I have to say, I really enjoy the aesthetics of the Reference series. And that's beside their best feature: the way they sound. Here's a few more pics ... 2.22.04 Home Theater Pics.zip
  16. Doesn't get much prettier than this boys. More to come.
  17. Did you sell it to your neighbor or something? Whats up?
  18. Dave, if you are willing to get pics of it tonight, that would be most excellent. Feel free to email me: bc_designs@yahoo.com I'll suggest the price you are asking to my brother and see what he says. Thanks.
  19. Dave, what are you willing to part with your beatiful C-7 for? Have any pics of it too? My brother is in the market for a C-7 to match his KLF-30's. Get me the info man and I'll get you the sale. Thanks dude! Ben
  20. Snails Pace, side note from the original post, my apologies, but how does your 5803 do with your KLF-20's? Do you find that it's a little overkill? Are you planning on upgrading your fronts to KLF-30's or going into the Ref or Heritage lines soon? Just curious ...
  21. If you aren't a fan of ultra, crisp, harsh, highs, then don't buy a Yamaha amp. The klipschorns are sensitive and dynamic as it is, you should think of pairing your speakers with somewhat of a 'warmer' sounding amp. Lot's of people have been partial to Denon on this forum, though I'm sure there are many other warmer sounding amps out there. Do your research. Buy once, buy smart. Just my 2 cents ...
  22. OK everyone, thanks for the replies. Like I said, I've never experienced the problem, but have seen it happen at my brothers place with his setup. 1- The amp is brand new and is configured accurately : speaker settings distance settings, all that is correct. 2- The speakers are fairly new in both instances, my brothers are a few years old, but my friends RF-5's are only a few months old. So unless the boys at the factory at Klipsch pulled a fast one and did a wiring joke, I can't think of why else this crap is happening. To elaborate on what really goes on, when listening to regular cd's in Stereo mode the kick drum hits but the woofers aren't reacting in tune with the drum. So, who knows. I was wondering if this was a common found thing, but it's starting to sound like maybe my brother and his friend are dropping acid before they listen to music or something. I'll let you know if we figure out what the freakin deal is ...
  23. A friend of mine has a pair of RF-5's in his HT setup. My brother has my old KLF-30's in his HT setup. One thing we noticed was that the woofers in the RF-5's and the Legends were both hitting out of sync with the music. We are all running Denon 3803's (except myself, I have the 3802) and we have had the LFE setting running to the fronts as well as the sub, using the LFE+Mains setting in the setup. Maybe this is cancelling some of the bass from music as the dvd player is interpreting the signal? Anyone had anything like this happen with their setup? I have not noticed my RF-7's doing anything like this as of yet. And we've checked the obvious: cross-over settings, making sure they're correctly wired, etc... Thoughts?
  24. Well, here is the gallery for the classic speakers: http://www.klipsch.com/product/product_list.aspx?line=miscclassic Here is the gallery for the reference speakers: http://www.klipsch.com/product/product_list.aspx?line=reference
