  1. I'm thinking of updating to a new surround sound amp. I want to use my KG-4's in the set-up. Since my KG-4's have such a great bass sound would it be possible to do a 5 speaker set-up without a powered subwoofer? I would also like to use new Klipsch speakers for the front and center speakers. Which ones would go well with my KG-4's? Thanks! Chuck
  2. Who carries Guardsman Wood Scent? It sounds like a good product. To answer earlier questions, I was in the USAF from 82-92 and took the VSI buyout ($$$$$$$). While in England I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall from 1984-1986 where I bought my pair of KG-4's at MWR's Electric Avenue at RAF Lakenheath for $300 a pair. I was assigned to 5th Mobile Aerial Port Squadron (as vehicle ops/air cargo) where we loaded and downloaded USAF aircraft throughout Europe. I came back to England in 1989 (as NBC/Disaster Preparedness)to RAF Fairford and they decided to close it down just after I arrived. I then spent my last years roughing it out on the Greek island of Crete defending the topless beaches there. What did you do at Lakenheath? Was it true that the quickest way to make Tech Sergeant (E-6) there was to come in as a Master Seargent (E-7) I'm also a major Who fan. I'm glad someone caught the DogsPart 2 reference. 3. Thanks Jim for the quick reply. I've feather dusted the years of dust accumalation off the backs and they look fine. I can't remember the warehouse in Denver. I think it was one of those traveling sales that was heavily promoted by a local rock station. They advertised inexpensive cd's and a packed crowd showed up (they were crap cd's). I was shocked to see identical KG-4's at double the price I paid for mine and they said that they were heavily discounted. I'm not planning to sell my KG-4's ever. I have always loved their sound. I've had them for 18 years and they sound as good as new. My black cabinets still look great even though I've paid no special attention to them other than an occasional Favor spray polish. Yesterday I did a google search on Klipsch KG-4 to see if anything was out there and I was EXTREMELY surprised that these speakers have quite a following. I've enjoyed looking at the postings. Thanks again for your help. Chuck Nagy
  4. I'm not an audiophile but I bought my KG-4's in 1985 in England while in the U.S. Air Force. A friend had an oak pair and they sounded fantastic. I love hearing clear bass and the overall sound was FAR superior than other speakers that I had heard for the size. I bought a black oak pair for $300 at a base vendor and the only other time that I had ever seen them for sale was at a warehouse sale in Denver for $600 a pair in 1992 so I guess I bought a bargain. They sound as great now as when they were new. Is there any preventive maintenance that I need to do with these speakers to keep them sounding great for the next 18 years? What's the best way to get dust off the back? How do you get the front covers off? (I've never done that!!) What do I need to inspect or tighten? All your past posts are very imformative. If any are for sale near Ohio then please let me know. Much Thanks! Chuck
