  1. Klipschguy, Yes th eslot in them is a three inch, as you may see in the photos I have listed below for Jon. Jon, If there are any other photos you need let me know and as for the last pic, I had to display my baner and love for the company and speaker!!!! Guys I have tried for the last hour to upload these picsfor you and I cannot find a program that is compatable with what the adinstrators allow us to use. I could take up teh space and upload one at a time if that is all cool with you? Mike Sorry I am not to hightech with the computers yet!!
  2. Tom, sorry for the delay.... What kind of pics are you looking for? Yes I know the woofer, but any particular angle or specific parts you want a close up on? I will have he posted tomorrow sometime and if they do not get posted by noon c.s.t. let me know your email and I will zip them over to you. Hey thanks a lot for all the help from everybody in the forum here I really do apppreciate the help! Mike
  3. I am not too sure if I have Alnico woofers then becaus ethe ones on the Khorns are pigs man. I know that a lot of the car audio and some of the home wooofers I have seen are nothing compared to what I have. But if you say that is what you think I have I will gowith it for now. Thanks Mike
  4. I am very sure and would swear by my horns themselves that one of them is bad. I know it is not the connection, the disc,lp and or tape. All the connections on the stereo are nice and tight and the cable is also good and tight to the xover. I can hol my head against the cabinet nd hear it. It sounds bad at the higher levels but when I am just listening to them at working levels I cannot hear it at all. I will look into having it reconed. Any suggestions? And forgive me for asking but I keep seeing the name ALNICO appearing all over and who, or what do they have to do with the Klipsch line? I see the x overs going for three and four hundered dollars on some auction sites. Just trying to get a little smarter day by day. Mike
  5. Jon, So where does a guy find all the gear you speak of. I am not sure if Klipsch offers them and if they do is there soeone that you recommend talking to over there. Mike
  6. Jon are they a set of twins???? That is cool that you have a set so close to mine, actually it s te other way a round probably. I have only had them for about three years. Mike But how do your woofers sound to you? Are you horns amped at all? I am just wondering, I mean they are approaching forty years old now!!! Stilll impressive for a speaker IMO!!!
  7. Guys I thik there may a be a part missing here. I must of forgot to mention that one of the woofers, in my mind is blown. This is why i am asking about the new woofer. I was told to replace both if I do the one. I am just curious ad was looking for the opinion of all the ech guys. Mike
  8. here is the info you wanted And I was told they are 63, butno paper work to pprove it. Serial # k-b-wo 2d208 and 209 woofer k33j squawkersk55v tweeter k77 xover type 1rb any other info and you need let me know and thanks
  9. Hi guys and gals, I am in the process of ordering a set of driver/woofers for my 63 khorns. I have a bad one and I have a question. Do I stick with the 15 inch replacement that Klipsch offers and are they anything like what is in the klf30. I mean what are the replacements made of and what is used in the current production models of the khorns? Unfortunately I am in a hevy metal stage and dont like to listen to it on the horns but my 20s and 30s are in my Mom's home theater system. (what a good son I am Let me know what you all think and I appreciate it. Mike
  10. Guys and gals, forgive my terminology but I have a very scratchy mid range section in my 64 Khorns. I see on some sights that people have replacement parts for the mid range. My question is how hard is it to replace the diaphragm? I am mechanically inclines and I would like to think it is pretty easy but with all the mods I have read about in here I thought I would ask before I got too far into it. Thanks. Mike
  11. A couple of other things as well. I know I am not as smart as some of you but I am NOT overfeeding the speakers. If I am pushing more than fifty watts to them it would be a minor miracle. As far as the type of music, unless you guys consider Rush, The Who, Jethro Tull and al the other classics out there to be "too much" for the horns to handle I think you may be wrong. I have never over extended these speakers and never played rap or any other test cd to find out how low it can go. If they sound really good in the apartment and the neighbor is gone I may end up pushing twenty watts to them for the length of one cd. Any other help is greatly appreciated.
  12. Acouple of things, first off I cannot see a tail board cover you all are talking about. I have no rubber seals on in or near the back of the Khorns. I have wood and screws and a metal mesh that runs from thtop to the bottom of the woofer section of my speakers. Two someone said they would buy the k33e and be done with it. What if you are trying to preserve the originality of them. I have the k 33 j and I was honestly just thinking of getting them reconed and buy a set of klf 30s or 20s for certain types of music Ilisten to and reserve the Horns for the generational music from the era they are from. Any better description of the tailboard seal would be helpful and if anybody has a digital camera senda pic and I will shoot you a couple so you can see what I am seing and maybe missing.
  13. Should you be able to see this seal when I pull them out from the wall or is it in between two pieces of wood? I have no rubber exposed on the outside back of the speaker that I can recall right now. ( I am at work) I will also check into reconing them as well.
  14. Yes they are in the corner tight and the seals that you are referring to I have no idea if they are tight because honestly I dont know what the hell they are. My tones on the reciever ar set at zero, except the balance. I am running an NAD 218thx 225 watts in stereo nothing special, just enough, i think. I am also running an ADC EQ, if that helps, not a lot of bass more highs than anything. And yes I think it maybe time to get them reconed, it was suggested by Steve from Klipsch, so where does one go for that as well?
  15. Hello people, I have come to the realization that I may have a bad woofer or hopefully some one out there can tell me what I am over looking. It sounds as if one and only one of the drivers are bottoming out or sounds blown, I have yanked it ot and examined it with a magnifing glass and cannot find a flaw with them. Phil Collins In the Air Tonight where he satrts with the drums it just doesnt sound right to me. Here is another part that confuses me, it only does it when I really start to get on it and I know where I have to stop so I do not get the weird sound from the driver. I have switched the speaker wire and it is not the equipment as some may think, it is the speaker. Please help!!!!!!!!!
