  1. I second Diana Kralls Live in paris and Roy Orbison's Black and White

both have superb sound and performances.

I also recommend Eric Clapton's Unplugged excellent sound and video quality.

If you are a Willie nelson fan, Live at Billy Bob's Texas is very enjoyable,

the performance and sound quality are toe tapping excellent.

The video quality is only fair.

  2. I used the Teac before breakin and before removing the center channel with a pair of Forte IIs and found it to be a bit harsh. I am now using my 150+ hour Teac with Magnepan MG12s and it sounds as very nice.

I will be trying the broken-in Teac with the Fortes again when I can get it away from the Magnepans.

The center channel removal requires removing 1 screw and it does come out like a computer card. A bit of effort is required to pull the card.

  3. Yes I find this site very slow. I also am not able to

get to sites like sears.com or ecost.com. The browser waits indefinitely on those 2 site and other site. googgle.com comes up in normal speed. I have ad-ware and spy-bot and others and have run them today. Anyone have else trouble going to trhe above mentioned sites.

  4. I own 2 concert videos which I like:

Roy Orbison Black and White, suberb preformance and sonics in DTS and DD 5.1. Backup band: Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, KD lang, Jacson Browne, Jennifer Warnes and others! If you like Roy at all this is a no brainer.

Eric Clapton UnPlugged has superb sonics and and excellent performance as well.

I am always looking for concert videos with good performance and sonics in 5 channel.

  5. I have 2 pairs of Forte IIs. I am running my home theatre setup with fortes in the front

and some small Altec bookshelf speakers for rears. I have a 2nd pair fortes on my 2 channel system that I am considering moving to sourround duty. One advantage I can think of for Forte Sourrounds is that I can run the sourrounds large instead of small. But for dvds/movies, the sourrounds don't seem to produce very much sound. It seems like a waste of fortes to use them for sourround duty only.

    What have other people experienced?

    Thanks

  6. I recommend getting one of them new fangled digital amplifiers as well. I am also using a panny xr45(discontinued) and I am very satisfied. Lower down the line, the panny xr25 and xr10 are available on ebay for $150 or so. The newer panny xr50, replacement for the xr25, is available for about $240. The highly anticipated pany xr70, the replacement for the xr45, will be available very soon. Many people are waiting for xr70. Another digital amp getting good reviews is the JVC RX-ES1SL digital amp, it costs less than the pany xr50.

JVC RX-10 vs Kenwood 7100 vs Pany 45 mini shootout

    Good Luck.

  7. I generally won't buy from a seller who:

    1. Has an ebay ID named HeadBanger or something similar

    2. States he hardly used the item.

    3. The 1st 3 paragraphs describe all about the lousy buyers

he's had to deal with and what the rules are for the auction

followed with a very terse description of the actual product.

    4. Shows really bad pictures or No Pictures.

    5. Talks a lot audiophile goobly **** about how great the item is.

    6. PayPal only

    7. Insurance not offered. Whats up with that?

    Other telltale signs?

  8. If you want to try cheap and excellent, I've been very pleased with my $300 panasonic xr45 for both 2 channel and 5.1. THe xr45 has a digital amplifier that is getting rave reviews by many people, these people are have replacing their seperates for this digital receiver. I am running forte IIs with this receiver and I am thrilled with 2 channel and multichannel performance. A speaker maker named Newform is recommending the panny xr45

at his site. The panny xr45 has been discontinued and the new panasonic xr70($339)should be out now and uses the same digital amps. Good luck.

  9. I´ve got the feather and you don´t!

Chip(Golden Lab mix) and Lilly(White Shepherd) on vacation on the Gulf of Mexico last Jan 2004. Chip and Lilly are both rescue dogs.

I'm looking to purchase some Heresy II and/or Chorus II in the Chicagoland area.

  10. I've been lurking a while on this forum and would like some advise amp/speaker matching. I was planning on buying either a pair of rb-35 or rb-5 ii to use with a fisher 500c. It will be in a 12x20 office, I will be sitting 6 feet from the speakers on the 12ft side.

Given the high efficency of these speakers, would I be better off with less efficent speakers and run the fisher amps more vigorously? Is there a optimum level an amp runs its best at? for example, is running a amp at level 5/10 better than running an amp at level 1/10?

With Klipsch speakers for low level listening, would one be better off with a even lower wattage amp than the fisher's 28 watts or less efficient speakers?

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks
