  1. My setup is below, I run a 6.1 system. For my listening area my denon seems to put out of juice. At most it will go to -10 for my listening. I watch 90% movies with my ht. What is a amp going to do for me. And what kind or brand is good for me, I cant spend a fortune now though. About a grand ist tops

    Thanks

  2. Hmmm..

Got me try posting in the powered subwoofer section. Although you kind find a new or newer sub that will do what you want without complications for peanuts. I imagine even a low end sub would outperform the ksw8. I am sure you could find a newer model ksw-10 or 12 very cheap on ebay. Or you could spend some big bucks.

    Good luck

  3. There should be a dedicated input, maybe just one of the rcajack's on the sub. Also you should be running a subwoofer cable from the sub out of the reciever to the correct jack of the sub. Standard or high quality rca cables may no work, as I have had problems with a plain old rca cable. I had the ksw 10 and it had a decidated sub jack I think the l red rca jack. Or you could run the main speaker wires to the sub and then back to the l & r mains. adjust your phase and croosover accordly. I think it is hooked up incorrectly

    Good luck

  4. Now my rf-3II arent big compared to the rf-7's but still bulky especially compared to bookshelves. But often wonder if I would have gotten the same sound from a smaller speaker in the refence line. Bass is no problem, just want them to get a little bit of a workout. My system sounds great as it is. I will need to check to see lfe+main is on w/ the small setting. When listening to other sources as cds or tv bass is lacking. Actaully maybe it is just under prologicII. I hate fiddling with the setings when my dvd source sounds perfect

    Thanks for the reply

  5. I have all the speakers set to small. The svs sub puts out plently of bass, but rarely hear or see the woofers work on the mains. Can you have the speaks set to small but also choose lfe+ main option on the denon 2803? I feel that the rf3 are wasted with small setting but I always hear from others small setting is the way to go

    what is your 2 cents...

Havent been here too much latly..been on the bose forum. Looking for a better setup!! LOL

Actually were have a newborn..Our first one..so been busy. Our ht hasnt seen much use lately. We bought the increbiles so posssibly this weekened

    Thanks

  6. Hey all, Been busy with a new baby..so I have'nt posted as much lately. But my cousin has always like my Ht. He wants to get a better Ht setup then his current HTIB setu(Panasonic i think) I asked him a price range he said about a grand. So I probably can push the dollar a tad. He is looking for clarity, he is a condo so he doenst want a huge sub either. I asked if the 1000 price tag was just the speakers or reciever and dvd too. But I am assumuing just speakers. My ? is I thought the rsx line might be good for him especally since he doesnt want anything too large. What is the prices about between the three. If too high maybe ai will look at the synergy series. I am hoping he will send a least another 5 on reciever and dvd player. He keeps mentioning bose, bu I think I have been pretty clear on my feeling on them

    Thanks9.gif

  7. Hi

I own the rf3II similiar to the rf-35. I am very pleased with them. I really dont the look of the other lines. Although the la scala is very nice looking. You need to buy something that will make you happy. If you buy fortes and hate looking at them, you will probably not enjoy them. Listen and look and let your ears decide. Although the sound really should be your deciding factor..but I agree that looks are important too.

    My 2 cents

  8. Hi

I have been watching the Star wars trilogy and looks and sounds great! The horns really show off their capabilties especailly during the vader march orchestra music. But one thing I noticed not neccasily with that dvd but with dvd's in general. I get plently of bass thanks to the svs sub. But the woofers on the rf-3II dont put out much. I tried to see if the lfe + main was selected but I couldnt find that option. I think I need to use the on screen menu to find it easier. I am pretty sure it is not selected for lfe+main. Probably because It was suggested to me. Do most people let the sub do all the lower frequencies. My thinking is that they are going to waste, I mean I probably could have just used bookshleves if the sub is doing all the work.

    What do you think

    Thanks

  9. Hi

Happy Turkey day too. So far it looks like you got a nice system in the works, I might have stayed in the same family line with speakers rather then changing product line. Ideally you want to stay in the same family(but you need to stay in your budget so it happens) , the timbre will probably be very close but, you will probably need to adjust those other speakers up for db on the intinial setup. Anyway I am a sucker for the bells and whistles of a product. No you dont need that fancy monster power center. Just dont buy a cheap 5 buck one either. I spent 200 bucks on mine it is a monster cable brand. But it really is a waste, just look for one in the 50-100 range that will be fine. The most imporant thing is the joules rating from what I understand. The higher the better. I dont hear any better sound with my monster bar!

    Good luck

  10. To answer the how to setup 6.1 on a 7.1 reciever. Pretty easy. I have a Denon 2803. If only connecting one rear speaker (center). It has it labeled on the back of the reciever. Kind of liked how rca inputs might direct you to the white? jack for mono..Anyway when going through the setup on the reciever(onscreen made it real easy). At one point it asks how many rear center you have connected. Most of the time the light on the reciever only shows that there is a signal going to the rear center, not that it is getting a discrete signal. Only a few movies I have seen where a discrete signal was sent to the rear center. MY room is a little small to so I couldn't add for 7.1.

  11. Hi

Expecting a baby soon, and we are making the upstairs living room which is now empty into a sitting room(or whatever she calls it). The basement will remain the ht room. I have a tv picked out probably a 27 or 32 in fs(probably in the 300 dollar range). Now she wants a radio upstairs , she was looking at garbage mini 2 channel systems along those lines. Now what I am looking for is a reciver and two speakers. It will probably only be used for radio or cds, and maybe some dvd tv viewing. I dont see it ever going into 5.1 or 6.1 range. Now we have about 500 dollars in gift cards for best buy. I can chip in some cash but I have to be frugal! So I will be buying there sorry Griff 6.gif I think even the synergy bookshelves are out of my price range at this time. Any help

    Thanks

  12. Been trying to remedy this problem for ever!!7.gif Comcast was no help, which I hate calling cause I hate them touching my stuff, and usually know less then me. I bought a scientific altanta drop amp, for 70 bucks cleaned up the pic but made the hum bars even more noticable. My question is do I need one for each tv? or can I place it before it gets to my splitter?

    Thanks9.gif

  13. I put a rc-3II on a shelve, used to big metal anchors the ones that expand behind the wall. Well I guess they didnt hold to well, It came down duriing a movie and nearing took me out since it was a rear center. It slightly damaged the wood outside the grill, some plastic wood putty and a black perment marker fixed it. went with the biggest anchor made. No problems since

    My 2 cents!

  14. As for the sub the best place is where you here the best response from the sub, some people recommend that you move the sub around and listen to the same track with good bass. My sub went in the only place I could fit it with out being in the middle of the room, fornuatnly it sounds good. The surrounds I placed to my hear level when standing. I would think slightly back behind the listening postion would be best

    Good Luck

  15. From my expierence most hd tv shows are not a 5.1 or better sountrack. So it will show neo or matrix. I so know that american dreams on sundays at 800 is a 5.1 soundtrack and then my reciever switches from neo to ddex. When commeri al comes on it goes to neo again. Does it do this only with hdtv or dvds too?
