Ok, heres my plan: I wanted to use my promedia ultra 5.1 sats in a home theater setting, straight to the receiver. My sub's amp is going to die for the 4th time, and i'm finally out of warrenty. I'm exhausted and theres no way i'm paying 90 bucks for a new amp that'll blow in less than a year again. So: i wanted to buy a Sony STR-DG1000 receiver (i know i know, i'm probably a low end guy and everyone is going to steer me away from this all... keep in mind i'm military and dont make as much as alot of you) and a klipsch synergy sub or the acoustech ht-100. Problem: i noticed the sats were 4 ohm and the subs i was considering are 8 ohm. plus i doubt this sony has 4 ohm taps. My questions: Will hooking up the 4 ohm sats blow them? or will there be a noticable degrade in quality. Also: is it bad to mix 4 ohm speakers with an 8 ohm sub? My plan was to replace different speakers over time, as i came to it. But the money isnt there now, and my 5.1 setup has that annoying buzz. I really dont want to settle for tv-speakers.
