  1. If you go with a RF-15 or RF-25, how much room do you need from the wall? I just measured and if I flush it with my entertainment center, I have about 8" behind the RF-25.
  2. I did some searching on the site, and found a wonderful posts about taking the horns out and rotating them 90 degrees if you lay them on the side. However, it appears that the RB-25 unlike the RB-3's/5's doesn't allow this. Anyone know of a way to do this? And as to ordering the RB-3's/5's I don't believe I'll have enough rear space for the port which is why I'm looking at the RB-25 and I've heard them at the shop The link to the discussion was: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=29948&forumID=69&catID=19&search=1&searchstring=&sessionID={0E77B055-771E-4A09-AB64-374F6576618D}
  3. Having a lockup in making a decision, figured you guys could help me out. I'm looking at the following system, Rb-25 Front, Rc-25 center, Rsx-4 or Quintets rear surround, RW-8 sub, sony da-1000es receiver. Need two question answered, one is something I need tested. I have an enterianment center, about 8 ft wide with my 50" tv w/i it. It has built in speaker cabinets that are about 19"wide, 10.5" high. From the center of this cabinet to the center of the TV is 32". So the difference between the R/L speaker is 64". Now my seating area is about 13' from the front of the TV. This produces about a 22 degree angle between the R/L speaker if I did my geometry right. My question is having the speakers this far apart is it going to be a problem? Dolby site recommends 45 to 60 degree spread. I can't spread them since they are builtin compartments, but if I do need to spread them, then I need to look at some satelites to mount on the wall. Next question is if I go with the RB-25, I will need to lay them on their side horizontally to fit them within the compartment. Now I went and auditioned one today at a store around here, I placed it on the side and I really couldn't tell, but I don't know if it sound different or was just me thinking it did since I saw them sitting on their side, just can't put my finger on it...might need to go for another listen. Can someone test this for me, and place them on their sides, and play music and HT through them and see if there's a noticeble difference? Well then there's one more question... If I don't go with the RB-25 cause of the spread issue or the horizontal issue, then I need to look at some speakers to mount on the wall. Which sats work/look best, the quintets or the rsx-4. I heard the rsx-5's and they sound good, but their going to be too big to mount on the wall. Thanks for the help, Derek
  4. Pistol, How's the Yamaha working out? Saw one at BestBuy today and heard it playing music on SB-1's and it was unbelievable how robust the sound was. They didn't have Reference models so didn't get to try it out on that
  5. I have decided on going with the RB-25s due to their front bass reflex ports and since these will be setup in an enclosed speaker shelf in my entertainment center. Anyway, which center should I go with. It looks like the RC25 and 35 have the same wattage, but the range is better on the 35. It also appears that the 35 is only 75 bucks more the the 25...so which to get. Should I go with the 25 to match, or go 35 and get the better range?
  6. Maybe I should just wait it out and try to get the RB-35/RC-35 setup then. I have about 6" from where the speakers will sit and the back of the bookshelf, but I could cut it out, and then i'd gain about another 4-5" from the back wall giving me about a foot of rear space for the speaker, but maybe the front reflex RB-35 would be better. Thanks for all the reply's, I'm going to do some research on the pioneers and see what they have for receivers. I think I read another post that they worked well.
  7. I am finally getting around to setting up a HT. I haven't picked anything yet, but am trying to keep it decently priced. I demo'd some QuintetII's at a local AV store in the area and thought they were good, but as I started doing more research, I came across information on the RB-5II and since I'm on a small budget, they are cheaper than the RB-35 and seem to have the same audio charateristics. If I go with the Quintets they are going to get mounted on the wall. If I go with the rbB5 they are going to go into a speaker shelf in my entertainment center. I just got finished reading a few posts about the rb5's and having them on stands to get the sound out of them. So how are the rb5's going to sound sitting on a shelf. I also have to place them horizontally not vertically, which I don't think makes much difference, but I'm no expert. I know the ranges on the rb's are much wider than the quintets, but am wondering if I don't put them on stands are they going to sound like crap? Oh also if someone has any hints about a good receiver to go with these that's around 500 bucks or so let me know. Right now, I'm looking at a Yamaha VX-2400 I believe it was, Onkyo SR601, Sony DE995...and still open for suggestions.
