  1. Checked the Klipsch product page and the RSW-10 is described as front

firing active with rear firing passive speaker, the -12 and -15

are described exactly the opposite. Anyone with these subs have

any idea if this is an accurate description?

  2. Checked American TV and Electonics web site (fairly new here in St.

Louis) for Klipsch subs, and they do have the RSW-12, whereas Ultimate

Electonics no longer lists the RSW-10 or -12 models. At $1299

plus tax this would run me around $1400, plus cabling. For

general music and occaisional movies this is a significant investment

on top of RF-35s and RC-35 center. My other option was SVS Ultra

cylinder, which I think runs around $1200 give or take, with shipping a

tad more.. Since my goal is to add bass without shaking my house

apart or going deaf in the process, are these two subs comparable

except at the lowest frequencies? The SVS seems to have more

"features" on the rear panel, not sure they add much the RSW-12 lacks,

    any thoughts?

  3. Thanks for the inputs everyone. Recently checked Ultimate

Electronics on-line, and they have deleted the RSW-10 and -12 from

their web site, leaving only the -15, which is above my price

point. Assuming the -10 and -12 have not been discontinued, but

have not checked the Klipsh site yet. There are a couple of other

smaller companies in the St. Louis area I could try for the -10 and -12

    if they carry them.

Since my sub locations in a family room situation are rather limited,

do these units require corner locations, and do they also require a

fair distance to the wall? Noticed that they have a front firing

passive woofer and a rear mounted active one. My situation could

make distance to the wall an issue.

Guess I need to get out and hear these subs in a showroom. Even

when Ultimate had all three, the setup was hard to fathom relative to

the signal source and the receiver settings, etc. Having read

tons of stuff on the SVS cylinders, I was leaning that way since I do

have one short corner between two doorways which is about the size of

those designs, but I have yet to determine what the cylinder is made

from, so that leaves me hanging on just what I'd be purchasing.

Also, a wooden enclosure just fits my perception of what a speaker

should be, but perceptions can be misleading. Aesthetically, the

RSWs would also match my RF-35 fronts, RC-35 center, and maybe someday

my rear surrounds, if I ever get the wife re-convinced on wall mounting

the RS-35s that are still new in the box for nearly two

years...... might have them up for sale if she keeps insisting on

in-wall rears. Thanks again for the feedback, and any insight

    into the placement questions?

  4. About a year ago I was looking at subs to complement my system (RF35

mains, RC35 center, RS35s if I ever get them mounted....). There

were so many posts about problems with the RSW series quality issues,

blown fuses, turn-on problems, etc., that I got fairly discouraged and

never made a move to buy anything. Are these subs still

experiencing these issues, or have owners' experiences been more

    positive?

    Thanks for any feedback.

  5. I have an early 70's Pioneer receiver (Allied, made by Pioneer) with a

dead right channel. Does anyone know of any repair shops in the

St. Louis area that handle this type of equipment repair? Hate to

pitch the unit, and I'd also like to hear what it sounds like with my

    RF-35s. Any inputs are appreciated.

  6. Wound up swapping the August unit unopened for a 26 Nov unit. Have not noticed anything unusual about the speaker except that it takes some experimenting with the various surround sound options to get something that sounds "right". I'm running a Denon 1804 with Klipsch RF-35 mains, but have not yet connected RS-35 surrounds and no sub yet, either. So, I'm experimenting with 5-channel stereo and various other tape and DVD sound options. But no obvious defects in the RC-35 like the posts from last fall.

Anyone have a clue why my system profile does not show up in a post?

  7. This is my first post to the forum and I have really learned a lot reading from everyones experiences and advice over the last several months. My 1972 Allied (made by Pioneer) 55 Watt receiver finally lost one channel last year and I've made the leap into all of this new technology. Love my RF-35s, but now have a question about my new RC-35.

Late last fall there were several posts about RC-35s which had various quality issues. Bought one this weekend and just noticed the (unopened) box is stamped August 2003 and I'm reluctant to open it up, maybe better to swap for newer stock in a couple days or a week.... Was this the timeframe when the questionable units were also made? Since I have no idea how this speaker should sound I am leaning toward just swapping it out unopened. Anyone have any data points on production of this model in the August 2003 timeframe versus the run of questionable units?
