For starters, since our frigging forum profile still does not include our equipment list, we need some information from you, some of which you have already provided: OK then, here we go: Budget? I've probably got about $1K to play with, but I'd just as soon not blow my whole wad at once. Room size? I'll have to get back to you on that one. Room shape? Rectangle, doors on two side walls & back wall. The back and one side door will probably be open most of the time. Corners available? Should have the front two, but SWMBO hasn't told me what furniture will be in there yet. Primary music or movies? Music. What percent music or movies? Probably 99% music. Prefer extra bass punch or flat accuracy? Usually start with the eq flat and dial up the bass about 1 click. (sorry for the lack of precise measurements) Multi or dual channel? 2 ch. Probably start 'em off with an old Dynaco SCA-35 that I picked up for 5 bucks at a flea market. I'll probably also give in to the temptation to see how they sound with my H/K AVR520. What kind of music? Some of everything. Jack Ingram & Todd Snider to Johnny Smith & Dave Brubeck. Freddy King to Buena Vista Social Club. How loud? Generally pretty low (I have a 1 year old), but if I'm alone I'll do my best to knock pictures off the walls. Other planned additions or upgrades? None planned, but I'm open to suggestions and whim. Own or rent (can you install in walls)? Own, closed yesterday. Tweaking audiophile handy, willing to DIY? Tweaking yes, audiophile no. I spend my free time R&R-ing old guitar amps, so I'm comfortable with a soldering iron. Prefer new or used? Depends where the quality is. And some personal background: How long you have been a Klipsch fan? Known the name and rep for years, didn't really delve to deep into it until I saw these when we first looked at the house. How you got introduced to Klipsch? Great uncle had a pair, not sure which model that he ran with a McIntosh system. He got rid of it all about 10 years ago. What else have you tried? Nothing of the same caliber. Been paying for baby, saving for house, so everything else is stuff I've been able to find deals on. Right now the collection is low-end Polk. R40's, R20's and a CS/i30 center. ----------------
  2. Just bought a new house and the seller was kind enough to throw in a pair of '83 Cornwalls in unfinished birch. First, belated thanks to those of you who helped out with my question on dating them a few weeks ago. Second, now that I own them are there any must-do mods or common problems I should look for? Thanks in advance. Matt
  3. Hey guys, need help dating a pair of Cornwalls that will hopefully be included in a house I'm about to buy. Model is C-BR which I assume means Cornwall-Birch Raw? I could only get to the back of one so I don't know if the SN's are sequential, but the one I could get to was 36Y550. Thanks in advance for the help. Matt
