it could be the amp or the preamp fault!? you should have a look at them and the way the wire are attached to them

the audigy 2 decodes the DD and the audigy 2 ZS decodes the DTS. you can decode a dd or dts signal with windvd and without one of this sound card,it uses the cpu but with a such soundcard it is the soundcard wich decodes the signal without using the cpu.

if you use the DD5.1 you won t have to use your pc to decod a digital signal and you wont have to wait until your pc starts. i ve a sb audigy 2 and since i get an external decoder i don t use the sb anymore. (sorry if there are mistakes i m french and i haven t speak english for a long time)
