  1. Hey, John - nice setup. Now, I noticed that your center spkr sitting on top of the TV is considerably higher than the mains. The 3 speakers are not in the same plane. Does this work OK for you. MD
  2. Thank you all for your input. I think keeping everything as close to being on the same plane as possible is a good idea. One thing I want to avoid is ending up with being able to localize the sound coming from the center spkr. I have RF-3 mains - they stand about 3 ft high, with the horn somewhat less than that. From the floor to the shelf above the TV is slightly more than 4 ft. I seem to have 2 options: 1 & 2)Place the center spkr on the shelf and hope for the best/or place it on the shelf and build stands for the mains, thereby raising them enough to be at least close to the same plane as the center 3)Sit the speaker on a stand below the TV screen Decisions, decisions. Thanks, MD
  3. I am new to home theater and need help with a decision on the placement of my Klipsch (Rc-25) center channel speaker. My big-screen tv sits back in an alcove, and a built-in shelf for components is directly above the tv - the top of the shelf where it would be convenient to set the center channel speaker is approx. 13 inches above the tv. This is where I would like to place the speaker - option #1 I also have the option of fabricating a mount and mounting the speaker to the shelf facing (shelf facing is quite wide) and within a couple of inches of the top of the tv. Not the best solution aesthetically - option #2 With the speaker tilted down slightly - toward the audience - would option #1 be OK, even though it is 13" above the TV. Thanks for any suggestions/opinions you might share. MD BTW - my concern has to do with sound quality regarding the amount of distance between the center channel spkr an the TV with option #1.
  4. Thank you for that information. I've decided to go with the RW12. I'll end up heading to Las Vegas and go toe-to-toe with some authorized dealers regarding the price. Thanks again, MD
  5. Thanks, EAR, I was hoping you would jump in on this. I will narrow my focus to those 3 choices, as auditioning 10 or 15 subs in an environment other than the one in which it will be used seems almost counterproductive. BTW, this is a great site and I have enjoyed reading many of your comments on subs, as well as the comments of others. Thanks again, MD
  6. From what relatively little information is now available on the RW12, it does sound like a good choice for the money I wish to invest. Any problem with buying online? If not, can you recommend a site in case I decide to go with the RW? Thanks, MD
  7. Thanks for the reply. I'd like to keep it at about $500. I've been considering the new RW12, but not sure if that is a good choice or not since it appears so few people have actually heard one yet. MD
  8. Help, please. Well, here goes - I know very little about electronic gear. Please keep in mind, I am not really an audiophile, I just like good sound with CD's and DVD's. I have a HK AV70 receiver, Rf-3 mains, and a RC-3 center channel. Sounds fine, but now its time for a decent sub. My room is 20x20 with 9ft ceiling - tile floors. One last point - I don't wish to blow out my windows with the sub - just simply add a dimension to movies and music that my system is currently lacking. In other words, I do want to hear the rumble of the thunder or the placement of the dinosaur's foot on dry ground. Any thoughts? Thanks
