Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died

Here is an explanation for the lyrics

This is really quite an interesting site and comments much about the history of rock & roll and the american youth and how it's hope for the search of an American uptopian society died .

There is a fisher on audiogon right now X100-3 fully restored $500 , by Craig , Nos Valves

Tubes are not entirely out , although finding one in the price range you want would make it pretty difficult . I just recently bought an Antique Sound Labs MG-SI 15 for just under $500 . It was used and it has a remote with volume cotrol and source switching . It switches between 5watts and 15 watts & uses KT88 tubes.

Which camp ? It all depends on what I feel like listening to , variety is the spice of life . Why make a long term choice when you don't have to .It is nice to be able to mix it up ,when you want to .
Craig,
A little off the current subject, I wondered if you have tried the Shuguang "Treasure" Kt88 tubes in your VRD's yet . Or if you know anyone who has ?
just curious

I actually washed mine in the bath tub

http://www.2baudio.com/ Something to take a look at. Have to click on ,he has a TADAC TUBE D/A convertor ,that I think looks interesting.

It might help ,if you mention the price your asking on the Eico .

Thanks, the extra "juice" does help out.

craig old buddy
i did not buy the ones off a-gon, i bought them from a individual that shall remain nameless unless he chooses to chime in, suffice to say they are all original and do great in the system now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i will say this the guy i bought them from upgraded to a 5000.00 set of amps
i am by no means an expert on anything audio, but to my ears and system the vrd's do as good or better in the bass department as the 150 watt hypex digital amp i have and they are definately quiter
Joe
I am the person that he worked out a deal with ,we made an agreement that worked out for both of us. I like the sound of the 2A3 tube ,always have always will ,so I acquired the sun audio amps from Joe. Do they sound better than the VRD's , yes ,for what I am looking for, as far as my personal taste in music . Do they do all things better than the VRD's - no. I am not that much of a bass "nut" , the VRD's are better in that area in my opinion. I do like super clear highs and mids and in my opinion the sun amps do this better than the VRDs,on much of the music Ilike to listen to. Once again it all comes down to personal taste , it is like ice cream , some like one flavor ,some like another . When I first bought the VRD's , I thought I made a big mistake , turned out to be a problem in a different area of my system . I went out and bought a highly regarded 45 tube set amp , and had that at the same time ,as the VRD's ,once I found the problem with the other piece of equipment , I returned the set amps ,for a loss of money . The ideal way to be able to tell if you really like something ,is to be able to try it at your home in your own system for a length of time. Outside of that ,you can get pointed in the right general direction ,by hearing a substantial amount of people comment on a given piece of equipment ,and them all liking it. Just my way of looking at things.

And the very recently done 2A3:
Yeah, I like single-ended amps too. Some people enjoy both PP and single-ended, and I include myself among them.
'Night!
I decided to get the best of both, bought the push pull 2A3 amps ,Sun Audio from Joe and I love them . I had the bottle head Paramount 2A3 in the past and always loved the clarity of the highs and mid range , but had to admit on quite a few recordings I would have liked a little more "punch" . Now with the 2A3 push pull it gives me that extra "punch" with the clarity . I think I will be content for along time

Hey your cool with me, I think the problems one encounters through typing replies on a forum would often not exist if people would meet one another face to face . It is often hard to tell the intent one meant from a typed reply.

AUDIO CLASSICS......Where it looks to me like Customer Satisfaction is the GOAL.........Same place I bought my Mahogany H2's new for $800. last year..................SORRY GUYS, I call 'em the way I see 'em.............3 1/2 hours one way, but worth it, McIntosh Factory 5 minutes from there...
NOAH, my problem is telling everyone you paid $650. and turn around and try to sell on here for $950.........Come on, Guy, that's not how the forum guys conduct business on here............Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.........I'm not saying he shouldn't make something, but $300 ??? I don't blame him for trying..........but............
What about the LaScalas I sold to Nick for X amount of dollars ,and you listed them for him on the forum for more money. I never said anything, I do not believe he did anything to improve them
Mark, what was paid was never posted.................He broke even, but when listed they were not 1/3rd mark-up either..........You ask a little more, because people always try, which is normal, to get it cheaper, so you price that in, and final point........He didn't ask NEW price did he? I don't understand how you compare the two....why did you post what he paid, Nick didn't.............
OB,
I probably should not have posted . I really believe that it is up to the person themselves what they want to sell something for ,along with the buyer and what he wants to buy something for . Point being if I get something for far less than it is worth and someone else wants to pay me more for it ,as long as he is a grown up what is the harm?
-
While you have the oppurtunity I would recommend you listen to the 400 and compare it to the 500 . I always thought the 400 sounded nice.

Joe,
Why don't you give us some hints, as to what you might consider , as something you might accept in trade? Some general guide lines .
Thanks

Joe,
I see you listed the Sun's on audiogon , you keeping the transcendent SE-OTL . You really must like them . I will have to hear a set of those one of these days, you have got me curious.

It is safe to assume that you have checked the bias on the suspect tube? To rule out the rediculous , no offense meant.

Hey O.B.
Depending on when it would be ,maybe we will hook up and ride out together. Have to have a little more of the details ,as I usually work every other weekend. If noone else comming has the VRD's , I could bring mine. What equipment is available to sample from.

I don't have a pair of Welborn SETs, but i will shortly have a pair of Juicy Music pCATs. I realize they are different flavors, but who knows.... I'm in the buffalo area...
