  1. Stereo Review? This place goes round and round and round in circles, a very few progressing, many more regressing, and the same type of responses, over and over again. I find the Klipsch forums a mutated example of the Peter Principle in the Audio World. As new recruits enter the fray, they get shipped down the wrong channel to side with whichever Peter that aligns with the Klipsch Moon. A few call themselves "scientists," a serious warning sign, and others the naysayer elite. This "painful reality" has the most appropriate name of the entire lot.
  2. Well, I only sent myself an email after reading the "integration = optimization" exchange in another thread. Maybe if one is speaking efficiency but in terms of quality, this is not always true at all and quite the opposite most of the time.
  3. Erik, please check your email. I have sent three messages and have not heard back. Are you sure your email is working correctly? Please check your email or send an email to me by 6:15 to see if email is arriving. it is quite possible that neither of our email is working as I also sent daddydee and email and have not heard back though also have not heard back from you. I have set my email to check mail every 30 seconds so as not to miss an important email. I received three spam but no email concerning earlier inquiries or suggestions. Klipsch email is working as I have sent myself an email and received right away. Was not same message I sent. so please check again. Thanks for your help!!!
  4. Sounds to me like you might need The Helmet worn by Jack Nicolson in Easy Rider. And before applying the Norte Dame icon, you should consider having your hearing tested. I would be surprised if there was much left over 12k. Nothing wrong with that as it's natural but it sure makes judgments passed to others circumspect without a disclaimer in small print.
  5. ---------------- Erik Mandaville wrote: I will check on that. I'm just now unpacking the box to do a parts check (unless you've already done that). BTW: Did you get the low-noise version of the OTL? All my cupcake tins are filled with parts for my AE-1 rebuild, but we're going to go to Target today to get a couple more of the tins for your SE OTL. My preamp rebuild project is officially on 'standby' until your amp is done. I'm going to take pictures with my regular camera, and will have a picture disk made from that. The quality won't be as good, but at least we can have some pictures of the process. Thanks so much for sharing this, especially the part about going to Target to get the "cupcake tins." This is the kind of posting that makes me value the sincere helping nature of this forum! In one post, someone can say with consumate ease, I AM LOST and FOUND without many realizing it. It take great talent to both advertise your prowess and services, while appearing as sincere as a Cubscout at a 4th of July picnic. You have my admiration. The alnico post is amazing enough. I have never seen such realizations - I am also looking foward to the next "Marie, my loving wife" installment. You crazy kids with your hijinks! I pity the fourlegged friends though. Many skim posts as I do usually. For those, one might need a translation - I build kits for people. For a small fee, I will build one for you. In payment, you will have to endure these posts about cuptcake tins, Target, my dog, what I am making for dinner, and other any other "attaboy, Beaver!" sentiment. I am only upset that there has not been a "I lost your email! Will you please send me your address so I can send tthis amplifier I constructed with my own hands that is now the best amplifier I have ever heard but will be overtaken by my next amplifier I build with my own two hands" post recently. again I will offer my admiration. Awaiting the next installment. Additional help on the getting more brightness might be to invest in a solid state amplifier with a equalizer.
  6. Been comments on this pre in 2 channel several times before and on it's older brother. AS always, best to do a search in the archives when a post goes unanswered. The Philly Audio preamps seem to be a good deal if bought used or when on sale in Audiogon - if you buy from the site, expect to pay a $500 premium. Still, it looks to be a very good deal considering what's included. Shop around.
  7. Do a search in the 2-channel archives; I just did. There are quite a few posts on this amp as well as mod ideas. It's a nice modern low cost used integrated.
  8. One important difference between the original "Cobreflex" and the new MK II version you acquired from Parts Express is the very fact the current version is ABS plastic while the original was not. This would seem to be an important distinction leading some to seek a used original. Some might say the ABS model would show less ringing if the original was metal but others might prefer the properties of the original. Interesting comments. How does the latest CF version mount?
