  1. I finally did it Saturday. Replaced the Sony HTIB speaker with the Klipsch 35 line. Front - RF-35 Center - RC-35 Surrounds - RS-35 Sub - RW-12 My first impression was what real speakers look like compared to the small Sony ones they replaced. That observation went ten fold for the sound. I didin't realize there was such a hole in the Sony setup between the sub and the sats. After running DVE we threw in the fifth element. Even if the mains and center were set to small there was midrange present in the Klipsch. They sounded full. I had considered what to get for surrounds. After some thought i stuck with the RS-35's. I am happy I did this. they sounded great. the only part of the package i had concerns about was the sub. So far i am really impressed by the RW-12. Maybe this is being use to a 6 inch Sony sub, but I really like it. My first complete movie test was National Treasure. Sounded amazing. I was blown away how much better the experiance was. It movie has a huge mix of "raspy" voices and gun shots and explosions. The raspy voices are things that always sounded bad on the Sony system. The Klipsch system sounded great. So far so good, plenty more testing to do, including music. I will say that I am a happy Klipsch owner. mightyhonda
  2. Thanks mac Anyone else have any opinions? mightyhonda
  3. I am picking up my 5.1 r-35 setup this saturday. the only thing that concerns me is that the best placement for my rear surrounds with the rs-35 is about 3 feet behind the main seating area and 6 feet up the wall. the room is only 12 feet wide. I realize this will not be optimal but will this sound bad? My other option would be to look at using RB-35s and "pointing" them toward the main seating area. This would involve using speaker stands(not sure how tall to get them). Any advise would be helpful. I am really looking forward to Saturday. thanks, mightyhonda
  4. My plan is to go back in a month or two when i plan to buy and let someone else earn the business. My plan is to buy the RC-35, RF-35 x2, and RB-35 x2 plus a rsw-12. You would think when someone tells you they want to spend that much money they would work for it. Yes UE is the only place to buy new i know if in the Twin Cities.
  5. apac020 Yes they do, I guess i am just blowing some steam because it gets frustrating asking for one thing and being shown something else. I might go to another location.
  6. The day after Christmas I went to our local Klipsch dealer, Ultimate Electronics, to listen to the reference 35 set. I have posted before that i have auditioned the RF-35 and loved them. The RC-35, on the other hand, sounded quite poor. My goal was to re-affirm my love of the RF-35 and hopefully the other RC-35 was just a bad speaker. What happened was that as soon as i said i wanted to listen the the Klipsch, the salesperson wants me to compare it to the Infinity Beta 50. But instead of the RF-35 he uses the RF-7. He kept saying how much better the beta was handleing the high notes of Nora Jones. I said that i thought the 7's were much better but i really wanted to hear the 35's. Even then the 35's killed the betas in my opinion. I might of even liked them more then the 7's, but regardless the salesperson seemed pissed. As we listened at loud volumes on the 35's another customer walked in with a friend and after a second stopped in his tracks and wanted to know what speakers these were. He claimed they were the best he ever heard. Salesperson still very pissed. I asked to hear the RC-35 alone, i now could hear the horn and detail but there was no bass. The salesperson asked another what was the deal and came back and said that center channels dont use bass. I told him that possibly they had it set up as a small speaker. I don't think he understood. I guess i am not suprised why they are having business problems. A customer asks for one thing only to be told the design is poor, and when the customer doesn't agree with the salesperson he holds a grudge. Anyway the only way I might be able to figure out if the RC-35 is okay or if i nedd to upgrade to the RC-7 is to put it in my house. Oh the frustration. mightyhonda
  7. Thanks for your replies. Both centers were hooked up to the same reciever with the same settings. So it must of been a damaged speaker. One more question is that should the rc-35 sound as detailed as the rf-35? I am going to try to set up some listing time this weekend to re-listen to the rc-35. Hopefully it was just the speaker. By the way i really liked the rf-35's mightyhonda
  8. I recently auditioned the 35 reference line. I primarliy compared them to the Infinity Betas. I was really impressed by the RF-35 in comparison to the Beta 50 in two channel audio. What threw me for a loop was that when we went to a 5.1 source the RC-35 sounded terrible. There wasn't any of the detail the RF-35 had. Even the Beta center sounded much better. Do you think this is a faulty speaker or is the RC-35 just not as good. Is it supposed to sound like the RF-35? I did listen to the RC-7 and it was great but it is more money and I am not sure how it would match with the RF-35. Hopefully there are some RC-35 owners who can let me know how they like the RC-35. Thanks, mightyhonda
