  1. Thankyou Tom, I will check them out.
  2. Thanks for your input..I checked out your amp build and it motivates me more. What type/brand of active crossover are you using?
  3. Thankyou for the info, and yes I agree with you. I am still reading, reading, reading. I read the link you gave me and found the info very informatve and helpful. I am in the process of learning the measurement process. If you have any links in that area, let me know. Thanks again.
  4. Greetings; Before I begin with my idea's, I want to thank everyone for any info or further expansions upon my idea's. So... what I am researching as of now is the idea of bi-amping my K-Horns and using ALK's trachorn upgrade. I would be using my Sherborn monblocks [solid state] for the bass and using class A tube amps for the horns. An active electronic crossover w/4th order 24dB/octave with -6dB at the crossover points would be used. My idea's originated while reading Rod Elliott. www.sound.westhost.com and http://lenardaudio.com/index.html and much reading on building your own tube amps. I have yet been able to hear my K-Horns through tubes, but I understand they sound beatiful. Also after doing much research on active vs. passive crossovers, I am leaning towards the active approach. The decision for solid state for the bass is mainly do to the power needed. I was investigating a class AB pushpull tube amp project, but cost played a factor and tubes did not have the tightness in the bass I was looking for. And of course the efficiency of the horns do not require high power needs and the tubes should fill my needs for the warm open sound I am looking for in mid to higher frequencies. I am also in the process of building a Belle also w/same concept for my center channel...thanks for the help on locating the blueprints on the belle also. Any insight will be appreciated...Thanks, Mike.
  5. Greetings, I am interested in building my own Belle for a center channel speaker, but unable to locate blueprints. I know that they are a complex build, but I enjoy good challanges and the satisfaction of the completion...any help would be appreciated. Thankyou.

  7. hello everyone. i am new to this forum, so be easy on me. hope you don't have some wierd initiation process. just jok'in: after reading through the forum i concluded that you are all corteous and knowlegable. so here are my dilemas and questions. i have been slowly building my system component by component as my wallet and priorities allow. most of my listening is music, but do enjoy home theater. i have no center channel but considering a belle if i can find one by itself. is this a good combination for music (SACD) and HT? my k-horns are spaced 18ft apart and listening distance is 9ft, lascala's 7ft behind listening position. another problem is @ low dB levels, in 2-channel of course, i notice that the lower frequencies are weak, the music just lacks it's fullness and soundstage. my k's are still equipped w/AA networks, so i am researhing ALK networks. has anyone used these and/or built them using his kit. now is where the flood comes in. from what i have researched, and having a back ground in sound reinforcemet at a large church, and working w/digital and analog domains, is that most horn loaded drivers prefer (here we goooo) TUBES. unfortunatly i have never listened to home music w/tubes. i just concluded that if my source is digital (cd's dvd's etc.),even though the signal goes through the D/A process, that my amp's should be solid state, and of course HT requires higher power than most tube amps can provide. so now i am researching quick silver components or other recommendations. also, should i use a tube preamp. i am researching sunfires vacuum tube preamp. finally, if i do go sporting my tubes, any ideas of being able to use both systems (one for music & one for HT) through the use of controller system. thank you for your time and god bless.
