Anybody, anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

Alright, here's "the deal". There's a really annoying buzz/hiss coming from the tweeters on my 4.1 sattellites, one that's even present when the volume is turned all the way down, as well as when the speakers are in stand-by mode. More interesting, though, it what happens when I play music through them, specifically gentle, lighter stuff (Dispatch's "The General", for instance). When I do this, the buzz moves with the volume of the song's highs, ie, gets louder or softer in accordance with the song; this proves to be very annoying. I've tried to fix it myself in the basic ways; I cleaned the wires with isopropyl alcohol, checked for dirt near the cones, even cut and restripped the wire ends, all to no avail. I'm thinking that maybe my wiring could be shoddy (the included wires are pretty bad), so I'm going to try and make some new ones. But if that doesn't work, I'm in trouble. So, does anybody have any idea about what might be the problem?
