  1. I agree wifes will last 50 years or more if not abused and they never need replacing. thanks les c
  2. now that is a lot of info. it seems there are different specs for different years. and a real difference on spl rating 119db to 127db that is a big difference. but i am happy to learn my set is a bg type set. i plan to have these for life. i tried calling klipsch and the rep said the industrial had 127db and the crossover was al-3 type. i guess nothing in life is ever really exact. these la scala`s have serial numbers but i don`t know if that will help in my search. and i absolutely have to thank all of you guys for sharing your info. i know much much more than i did. thanks les cornell
  3. hi hurricane or stu, absolutely please let me know if these speakers become available. pictures and full specifications are always good, what kind of price do you have in mind will you sell by piece and if so are any of the serial numbers sequential on the speakers.or is it a buy it all or nothing kind of deal, are they all the same age and condition and will this affect pricing also are you selling with a guarantee to be in good working order or is this a as is kind of deal. lot`s to think about. so let me know, i am definitly interested and am a la scala fan for life. this is for my home stereo so it is not a commercial application. the industrial la scala sells for less than the retail version. that is what i have read somewhere on this forum. i am no expert but the guys around here are very knowledgeable. also if you can find the age and history of these speakers it could help your cause. tell me something about yourself if you don`t mind. i always love to hear peoples stories. thanks les cornell
  4. khorn is there any way for you to send a copy of the original specs or brochure you have. it sounds like there are some differences i would like to know more about. and thanks for the info you shared. it is a great help, with these being out of production it seems to be hard to find the info you have. to be able to use these speakers right i will need to know all i can find out. you were watching that auction, small world we live in. i probably paid to much for this set. i would like to hear more about the early la scala`s you have. like were the specs the same and what about x-overs any change there. i seem to have read some where that the woofer access was also changed on the early la scala. if you can`t send a copy maybe you can post a word for word account on the pro la scalas. i actually like the finish on these. and does it show the x-over being the same as the home la scala. seems like it would be stronger. with the higher power rating and all. thanks again for your time les cornell
  5. thanks you are probably right. i can get way ahead of myself sometimes. i am absolutely rotten at building things with wood. but for khorn performance out of my speakers i would go the extra mile. my la scalas are totally satifying at this point but it is always fun to dream. les cornell
  6. i looked at those files and sure enough internet explorer shrunk them. when i zoomed them they looked great. i copied them but with my woodworking skills there is no danger of speakers being built by me using those plans. but i am looking for khorn bass bin plans if anyone has them. i am not talented but i can be persistent.so if i got plans for a khorn i think i would use them. or i may have to resort to non klipsch bass bins. anyhway those were good plans helped me to understand the internal workings of the belle better. thanks les cornell
  7. hi i am the proud owner of a set of pro la scalas with the aluminum edging and fiberglass wood. i also own a set of normal la scalas. i have all the info i need on the regular la scalas.(they are type aa x-over and look like they were on tour for years and years. which gives them character and proves they are tough and durable.)but i can find almost no info on the pro la scalas. they have a higher power rating and the woofer is different. they are two seperate pieces with the x-over in the tweeter/squaker section. the serial number on the side of this top section is 1852. i want to know as much as i can about the x-over and specs. they also have on them a different dbl rating at a different distance than my regular ones. i am curious about all this and can`t believe someone hasn`t posted more info about these speakers. i really love them and am presently waiting for another set i purchased on e-bay. but the set i am waiting for has no woofer section with it. so i will have to search for a set of woofer section or buy some other type to go with these. i picked klipschorns as my dream speaker about 25 years ago. i am a grand father 10 times over and am finally going after my stereo upgrades. the pro la scalas are not klipschorns but they are more versatile and can take more power and they appear to be almost indestructable in the aluminum and fiberglass. also sidewall resonance in woofer section is none existant.but most of all they look like they are tough. a good match for my all go little show stereo set-up. if anybody has info on these speakers i would really like to know. it just amazes me that so little info about these are available. but there is probably some reason i am completely unaware of. thanks for any and all help. les cornell ps.i am wanting to know what upgrades i can do to these speakers/x-overs and any options other people have used to improve these speakers both the typa aa la scalas and the pro la scalas i own. and can anyone tell me where to get plans to build the klipschorn bass bin. that is the only difference between the la scala and khorn right.
