[Mods to Belle Klipsch]

Just added ALK crossovers to my mid-80's Belle Klipsch -- great improvement over the Type-AB crossovers that were in them. Also added a sub-woofer (Outlaw Audio LFM-1). Wow! I didn't know what I was missing below 70HZ.

I've acquired a good pair of Altec 811B's and plan to install them BUT I have to know a lot more about how the Belle is put together before I launch into that. I've looked at Al K's mods but am not clear as to whether it's necessary to remove the grill cloth itslef (I've never seen so many staples).

I'm also wondering how the bolts which hold the mid/tweeter section on are lengthened to accomodate the 3/4 inch wooden platform necessary to provide extra height for the 811s.

I'd appreciate some pointers from anyone who has done this mod.

Woofers in K-Horns and Belle Klipsch speakers are "horn loaded" of course but what sort of surrounds do the woofers use and what is the life expectantcy of the surrond material?
