  1. Taken from the "News Center/Corporate Overview" section on the Klipsch Home Page:

"Additionally, Klipsch is the official loudspeaker of

the Hard Rock Cafe. Klipsch and Hard Rock Cafe International enjoy a

mutually beneficial strategic alliance that places Klipsch loudspeakers

in Hard Rock Cafe restaurants and retail locations; Hard Rock Hotel and

Casino high roller suites and Hard Rock live performance stages and

    other venues around the world."

  2. I just took a CEDIA class and they had a "Home Theater Expert" there to give a lecture. Two of the things that he said were: It is bad to mount a surround speaker too close to the ceiling and it is bad to point a surround speaker towards the listening position. He said the surround speakers (in a 5.1) should be at least 2 feet abover your head a to the sides of the listener, but at least 2 feet away from the ceiling. Also, pointing the speaker towards the listener does not allow the sound to create as much of a "surround" effect.

  3. A co-worker of mine got a Sub-12 and Synergy Series Quintet III for an anniversary present, but his room is wired for 7.1. I gave the Klipsch parts department a call asking on a price for 2 more sats, but they told me that you cannot buy them separately. Is he out of luck or is there another way to get these speakers?

  4. I have never been so lucky as to find Heritage at a

thrift or a garage sale. The first time my brother in law saw my

LaScalas the first words out of his mouth were "Those look like garage

sale speakers" I asked him where he seen this type of speaker at a

garage sale and he could not answer me. This is coming from a guy that

ownes 2 wave radios and a $3000.00 bose HTIAB system. After hearing the

Lascalas he politly and VERY QUICKLY declined a head to head.

Nice work! A co-worker just spent $1300 on a Bose 3-2-1, but I didn't have the heart to tell her what she could have really had (i.e. Klipsch) with that kind of money. I, however, believe that if they think it sounds good, then it's fine. If they start telling you that their system is BETTER than yours, then I'd have a problem :)

  5. Anybody have any good stories about finding great deals on Klipsch (Khorns, CW, Hersey...etc) at a garage sale? There have got to be some people out there that get the speakers as a hand-me-down and sell them for something stupid like $100 becuase they have no idea how nice the speakers are. I always take a quick look when driving by a garage sale to see if there are any hidden gem speakers. Somebody on here must have a great story on a deal they got, lets hear 'em!!!

  6. And I saw a poll today stating the 8 out of 10 people were happy with the current movie going (multiplex) experience. BULL!!

I bet that is pretty accurate. All of my friends think that I am

crazy for driving an hour to go to a theater that has bigger screens

and a good sound system (Klipsch, of course!) I'd rather wait for

a movie to come out DVD than watch at one of the local theaters.

My living room sounds at least twice as good!!!

  7. I agree completely, and have mentioned this very same thing to some of

my friends. My conversation goes something like "Some people on

the forum have these killer home theater speakers, but are still

watching a 28" TV". So, I do agree that an upgrade will

make a huge difference. I am slightly biased though, since I am

    99% movies, 1% music.

  8. May not be true but i was told that is a problem

with LCD or Plasma i cant recall witch one, only on fast moving scenes

    ?

You are referring to LCD's, but that problem has been solved for the

most part with recent LCD technology. I know that my TV is

capable, becuase when I watched the Colts vs. Steelers game this year,

the picture was completely flawless, which lead me to believe that the

cable company was sending a signal with little or no compression.

  9. I get this exact same thing with my Motorola cable box, but it only

occurs on certain channels some of the time. For example, during

the NFL season, I was flipping back and forth between two games and it

was happening on one channel, and not the other. My opinion, and

it is only an opinion, is that the cable company compresses some of the

channels to save on space or bandwith(?) and that's why the pixelation

is happening during fast-moving scenes. Maybe DirectTV does the

same thing. Anyone else care to jump in?!?! I have been

wondering about this for a while.

  10. I just watched a couple of scenes from ROTK, and I have to agree that

the spectacle setting really makes a big difference! Also, I just

hooked up my 2nd rear surround (RS-35), and am running a true 7.1 for

the first time! I know that most movies don't support it, but

ROTK is one of them, and let me tell you, the difference is

amazing! Thanks for introducing me to spectacle! I guess I

was just too naive to try it out before.

  11. So, does the spectacle setting use the original signal (i.e. this

sound goes to the left surround speaker) and then enhance it on top of

that. Basically, what I'm asking is when you use this setting, do

your little lights for F,C,R,LS,BS,RS, and Sub light up on the receiver

to show that the receiver is recognizing the dolby signal? If so,

then I just misunderstood what the spectacle setting was.

  12. I agree about the sub. If you are mostly into movies, what you

have would be greatly improved with a sub. See if you can find an

RW-10 or 12 at a discount since they are going away. If you are

into multi-channel music, on the other hand, having better surrounds

will help with that. But, there is no way that you are going to

get away without a sub in either case. As has been said, setting

your 15's to small on the receiver and letting the sub take over the

low end will be your best bet. You can turn the volume down on

the sub if the neighbors start to complain.

  13. Check my sig and see that I am the owner of a Yamaha 5760 which was

purchased for about half off when my buddy worked at BB. I have

the upgrade bug, but not enough to shell out the cash right now.

This reciever is great, especially for a starter, and like has already

been mentioned it has the pre-outs, so when you are ready for an amp,

that's all you will need. The YPAO setup is really simple,

however I found that I needed to turn up my the gain on my center

channel quite a bit to match the mains, and then turn up the surrounds

a little bit. I did not use a SPL meter, yet, but the dialogue

sounded MUCH quieter out of the center compared to the music, etc...

coming out of my mains. One thing to consider with the Yamaha is

the lack of an HDMI input, if you plan on using your receiver for all

of your switching. HDMI is the future of HD content and it looks

like component is going away. I use the Harmony 880 remote and

bypass the receiver (all of my video inputs except the on screen

display for the receiver go directly to the TV). It would

normally be a pain switching all of the inputs to get the correct

set-up, but the Harmony does it all with the push of one button.

For example, I hit my "Watch DVD" button on the harmony, and it sends a

singal to the TV to change inputs, the Receiver to change the sound

output, and the DVD player to turn on and hit "play". It's a

great tool and worth every penny. The Harmony 520 is a similar

remote with less options that can be found at Wal-Mart for about $100.
