  1. Received as gift a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speaker set for my PC. Do I need to switch it off after each use? The speaker is rated at 120 volts, consuming 250 watts. If this is true when there is no sound, each month the speaker would consume about 180 kilowatt-hours of energy, or about $15, if left on continuously. The on-off switch is inconveniently located at the rear of the subwoofer which is under the table against the wall. I don't switch off my computer since it automatically powers down. Does the speaker consume full power when there is no sound?
