  1. I just purchased a Samsung 50" DLP Model HL-N5065W from Costco at a great price ($1800). But I actually thought I was buying the model I had seen available in most retail stores, (the HL-P5063W). It looks identical. Anyway after checking on-line the differences, it seems that the HL-N model suffers from bad reliability problems. Has anyone sufferred any problems on 2004 manufactured HL-N's. Should I take this back to replace it with the HL-P model for an extra $400? Appreciate any input! Thanks Paul.
  2. HI Just wondering what Samsung DLP model number you have? I took your advice and visited Costco where I picked up the Samsung HL-N6065W DLP TV. It was at a great price but I actually thought I was buying the HL-P6063W model you can find in the main line stores (Best Buy/Good Guys etc). It turns out that when you check reviews for the one I purchased it says the reliability is terrible for this unit, (although these were mainly 2003/2004 comlaints). Please let me know if you have had any problems with yours and if you are aware of the main differences between the HL-P and HL-N models. Thanks. BY the way it seems that even if you use the DVI input and a HD-931 DVD player although up-converted to 1080 the TV down converts to play at 720.
  3. Has anyone had trouble with Klipsch build quality on the reference line recently. I do not know if I am just unlucky but after the helpful advice from this forum, I went out and purchased an RF-35 Theater system to find two out of three speakers damaged/unfinished. (RF-35's, RS-35's and an RC-35). I could only pick up the RC and RS's at the time of purchase and my RF-35's were ordered for collection in two days time. To my surprise when I opened up the RC-35 I found that on the front edge where the fabric cover meets, the laminate was cracked and peeling back. I initially thought that maybe this happened in shipping to the store and called the store for a replacement to be ready the same day I pick up the RF's. I then opened the RS-35's and while one looked absolutely fine the other had the whole thread insert missing from the back of the unit. As I want to bracket mount these from the ceiling this was an important feature for me. In place of the thread there was just a black felt pen circle where the thread should be. Now I have to re-order a replacement for this. Is it standard to 'roll the dice' on quality with Klipsch or am I just very unlucky? I hate to think how the RF-35's might arrive. I would like to hear any views from others on their experience on quality before I decide whether to return them for another brand. Can I trust that the insides are better quality than the exteriors seem to be? --------- P.S. Let me confirm the purchase was from an approved Dealer, (I checked the web-site before buying) and each box was sealed with no signs of ever being opened previously.
  4. Thanks IAmtnbikr for sharing your experience. My movie room is small right now but I have plans, (and agreement from the wife to 'go bigger' when we next move house). I think therefore that the -35's will be my target buy and match them with a RW-12 sub as soon as $$ allow. I listened to the -25's at Goodguys and liked them. But my Amplifier is considered 'Bright' and I have received advice to aire on the side of caution and get some heavier bass speakers like the -35's to allow for this in the short term before upgrading the amp.
  5. Thanks everyone for the guidance, It most definately sounds like I should Hold-off buying a sub straight away and buy the RF-35's, RC-35 and RS-35's. From what I understand when I can afford a sub I should go for the RW-12 to compliment the set-up. Does anyone know where the best price for the -35's are right now and would it be best to hook the speakers up with Monster cable?
  6. As a newbie and starting down the road of Klipsch technology I find myself in the quandry, which Reference series is not only great sounding but which is the best value for money. I heard an RF-25, RC-25, RS-25 system with a RW10 Sub and it sounded pretty darn good. However after some research I received advice to hold off the sub and put the extra cash into an RF-35, RC-35 & RS-35 system. My listening habits are Movies 80% and Music 20% through a 5.1 amplifier in a small to mid-size room. Has anyone compared the RF-35's against the RF-25's and was the difference worth the money differential? Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Thanks George for the guidance. I think I will take your advice and look into a set of RF-35's and hold off the sub right now. I am unsure whether this means I should build slowly and go for the matching RC-35 and RS-35's as well rather than match the RF-35's with RC and RS-25 counterparts. Any thoughts on this?
  8. Hello I am planning on setting up a Home Theatre system since I relocated from England to the States. I have been unaware of the Klipsch line until moving here and have heard some great things about them. I would appreciate any help or advice members can give me regarding my forthcoming purchase decision. Firstly let me start by saying that I brought my Sony STR-DB930 amplifier with me from England and want to use it to drive my Klipsch speakers of choice. This is a 5.1 Receiver system that had raving reviews at the time I bought it, (2 years ago) and fell in what would be the $700-800 price range. Front: 100W + 100W, Center: 100W, Rear 100W + 100W cabable of 8 ohms or 4ohms speaker impedance. (Specs state 20Hz-20KHz, THD 0.09% all channels at 90W output) After a run in with a very friendly but somewhat hard sell individual at Best Buy he convinced me that Klipsch Synergy was the way to go with SF-2's Fronts, SS-1's Rear and C-2 Centre. After trying to shop around I ran into the Reference RF-25 system and was able to hear this in a sound room at Good Guys. RF-25's Front, RS-25's Rear, RC-25 centre. It sounded good with the Yamaha receiver, but when I checked reviews it stated caution matching a Klipsch RC-25 centre speaker with a 'bright' sounding amplifier. The DB-930 I have was described in reviews as being 'bright' and as I do not like my music with too much Bass or my Movies with distorted bass this was a positive at the time of buying. Furthermore I have read bad reviews about the RW-10 sub that usually accompanies this RF-25 set. I have heard that the bass lacks impact and is unfocused compared to its smaller relation the RW-8 which had great reviews for Music and movie compatibility. I guess I am asking for three things in the request for guidance. 1) For a mid-priced system, (in which to me I would consider paying up to a max of $2000 for my first speaker system), is the RF-25 system preferrable to the Synergy system so energetically explained to me. 2) Has anyone experienced problems when matching the RC-25 to previous amplifiers they may have had. (Too bright an amp causing too much harshness on sound quality). 3) Has anyone got some guidance on which sub-woofer would best team with the reference speakers should I decide to go that route. I want to listen to Action movies most of the time with Pop music CD's / SACD's some of the time and have the bass output not overwhelming on the music. Any help would be appreciated for this newbee to the Klipsch world. Thank you
