  1. Thank you and yes the daytons are very nice speakers for the money, I'm just not sure how well they'll work in dual firing sub design in around a 2 cubic square ft box. I have some experience with speaker building and know that good sound is in the details. Awhile back I tried to ask Klipsch what a good replacement for the 6" v200 was and never heard back. Ironically enough I tried using the 6" shielded Daytons as the foam rubber surrounds in the originals had disintegrated. Unfortunately I didn't check for clearance of the magnet shield when I re-installed the amp and I shorted the amp on the shield. I'll try asking Klipsch again and see if they're in a more forth coming mood. I have considered buying a single 12" sub and building a new box too it's specs but I would still need to know the impedance of the bash amp.
  2. Does anyone know the specs for a replacement 8 inch subwoofer for 5.1 ultra's? Ohms, power handeling, fs, qts and whatnot. Thanks
  3. Is there anyway I can get a pro-media ultra amp repaired? I think it's just the power supply do any of Klipsch's authorized repair technicians still work on these amps?
  4. The drivers in the 4.1 sub have the cheaper foam rubber surrounds which are prone to deterioration. The foam would grumble with a light touch so it wouldnt have taken much bass. The satellites are still in good shape no need to replace them. The Dayton speakers work fine. Sounds the same as it did before. I had to hot glue the grills back on because they fit inside the old woofers. The shielding makes the magnets larger so you have to be careful the plate amp doesnt touch anything that can cause a short.
  5. Im referring to the rubber surrounds that connect the woofer cone to the frame. There seamed into the paper cone theres no way to replace them the speakers are paperweights.
  6. Im looking at these replacement woofers for my 4.1s. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&PartNumber=295-308&DID=7 There 4ohm but they only go down to 33hz, which I dont think is a big deal. Theyre shielded whereas the Klipsch woofers are not. But theres room so no problem there. The only thing Im worried about is there only rated 50 watts RMS/75 watts max. The bash amp is sending 160 watts; I guess 80 watts per driver. I think it should handle it as long as I dont push it. Does anyone think Ill blow these as well? BTW when I inspected the old woofers the rubber surrounds had deteriorated to the point where they just crumbled when you touched them.
  7. Depending on the volume it sounds like rhythmic buzzing or farting. I just bought the 5.1 ultras on Ebay to replace my farting 4.1s. Im still going to try and replace the drivers and give them to a worthy friend. I suppose once I have a look at the drivers Ill know what to replace them with. I bought these speakers a few months after Klipsch introduced the Pro Medias and they've played loud and strong for years with no complaints. I figure I just wore them out.
  8. The movie The Incredibles caused a blowout in one or both of my sub drivers in my 4.1s. Does anyone know what the specs of suitable replacement drivers would be?
