  1. I would go, as fast as I could, with the Harmony. Ive got a 680 from abesofmaine.com for $129.

From what I understand, the Harmonys all have the same functionality the only difference is some of the higher priced units have hard buttons for DVR functions and of course the 800 series has the bigger display icons. They are incredible especially if you have a new system and want to add/switch commands as you learn how to use the components. Extremely easy and fast to change!
  2. Id have to give props to bluejeans cables as well. Also I didnt see anyone address the Harmony remote. Id say he was correct on 50% of his advice although Id look for a better price, bought mine on-line. Ive got a 55 Sony LCD (projection) that Im very happy with.

  3. I have RS-25s mounted using the keyhole. I used a lag bolt into a 2x4 behind the drywall installed when finishing my basement. Purchased the speakers as floor demos, so I didnt get the rubber feet in the box (didnt even get the box [:o]) but just picked up some thick felt pads from Home Depot.

After reading this post, Im thinking about going with the Omnimounts, love to be able to tilt down a bit.
  4. After a War of the Worlds, Christmas Vacation, Jurassic Park III, Star Wars Episode 3, Robots week-end, I just have to gush. The Klipsch display I ran across at a liquidating Ultimate Electronics was the second best shopping accident Ive experienced. The first being the nice salesperson that steered me away from Bose and to a Polk Audio satellite rig. Although modest to some on this forum, (RF-15, RC-35, RS-25s, and a RW12) these speakers make movie/tv viewing so incredibly satisfying I had to pass it on.

Our Klipsch purchase achieved two things difficult to accomplish these days, it met budget, and exceeded expectations.

  5. I ended up getting the 688 and saving $80 over the 880. I love mine and would agree with the pluses and minuses listed above.

    >Have to turn everything off before activating an activity IF you started the device with another remote or by hand

I havent had a problem with this since I use my Harmony exclusively!
  6. I know you know what your talking about much more then I do but im the kinda person that has to have new things. It would bother me to no end to have used stuff. I just like to have everything new out of the box ya know?

That thinking won't win you many fans around here hd-nut [;)]

I've got the Denon 2805 wired to RS-25s, RC-35, RF-15s, and a RW-12 (same sub as you're looking at). All new, well some floor demos from the Ultimate Electronics liquidation.

I love just love system. 80% movies and it rocks. I have heard some of the "used" equipment Dr. Who mentions and wish I had the space and patience to build a heritage system.

I think you will be happy teaming Klipsch speakers with a Denon receiver, I am!

  7. ...Since my TV will save settings for each input, I assume I should save the identical settings for the cable box and VCR inputs...

I was wondering the same thing. Also had some "quiet time" with my new TV last night and don't have a calibration disc yet, but got out a DVD with the ol' THX Optimizer and went through the video tests. They have a test where you adjust to a true red and cyan. My question is do the DVE or AVIA discs any printed material that you use for comparison. What's a true cyan?

  8. Even though the bulk of this thread is over a year old, I didnt see the following mentioned.

Steely Dan: Two Against Nature (DTS. Good, intimate setting and nice interview clips sprinkled throughout)

Rush: Rush In Rio (8 minute Peart solo, nuff said!)

A second for The Stones Bridges to Babylon (I was at the concert and its the first DVD I purchased!)

  9. Well after a summer of work (Memorial to Labor Day), our basement HT.

RC-35, RF-15s, RS-25s, RW-12, Sony LCD 55", Denon 2805, Toshiba XS34, DishNetwork 811, Harmony 688, Bello TV Stand, Boltz DVD Racks. Oh almost forgot Cleo, she's the one with the super scary glowing eyes!

  10. That sounds great. I recently upgraded from a 10 year old 27 RCA to a 55 Grand Wega LCD. Oddly enough the wife was the one that insisted we go with the 55, I was thinking more in the 40-50 range. Shes also the one that strongly suggested we spring for the 7.1 rig. Why pull the cable and not hook it up? I had no answer for that one.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Find a store and tune into, I think its called Sunrise Earth. 30, or so, minutes of landscapes and ambient sound. Jaw dropping stuff. That alone should get the Comcast guy over soon!

Enjoy when it arrives. Hope your watching Discovery HD Theater come October and not the Series [;)]

Cards magic number as of 9/14, 2
