  1. My boss said today that I could choose from 3 of his 5 pair. I got some more info on them, and because I lack the experience with Klipschorn I'd like to know what you guys think. Pair 1: The oldest ones have serial # 2D112 and 2D113, 65's right?, they have crossover type 1RB. I got a better look at them today and found that there is some water damage to the grills, and a slight curling around the front base most likely due to water. The tweeters in both do not work either because they are blown or the crossovers are shot. The crossovers do look to be in rather 'rough' shape. These are the ones that have the missing side grills on one, but he I found them while testing them. The next two pair have an odd "slab wood", "bark board", "Adirondak siding", whatever you want to call it, coverings nailed to them. They appear to be unfinished underneath this covering. Would definatly want to remove this and refinish them. Pair 2: Serial #s 8702579 and 8702581, both have crossover type AK2. They appear to be fully functioning and the crossovers and wiring appear to be in very good shape. Pair 3: Serial #s 7N055 and 7N054, crossover type AA. Was unable to due to time to test these but physically they appear to be in very good shape. Pair 2 and 3 are 87's and 75's correct? I think I could get him down a little on the 65's due to the damage and repairs that would need to be made, but he will probably be pretty solid on the other two. I got to listen to them but it was far from even decent listening conditions. They were sitting in the middle of the room with a cheap Sony Reciever hooked to them, and we listened to some Country song over the radio. So I couldn't really listen and compare them. Even so, hearing them still gave me goosebumps. I want to buy the ones that will sound the best after all repairs and upgrades are complete. I am personally leaning towards the 75's, and away from the 65's due to the water damage. What are your guys thoughts?
  2. I have a Pioneer PL-5 turntable, and I use my computer for everything else. Have a Yamaha CD drive in it and an Audigy sound card, I know what you're thinking.... But a computer can be a great source. If you use good shielded wires and build the computer properly you get zero interferance from the rest of the electronics. I get a great signal from it and it's convenient. Being a student still I am a little strapped for cash, buying these Khorns will really pinch me, so better equipment and any upgrades will have to wait a little while longer. I will only be using the Cornwalls and the Khorns. I won't be running the Heresies, yet, my father is using them at the moment. I am concerned about my corners. I have corners but the base around the floor is about 3/4 of an inch thick. How tightly do Khorns have to fit into the corners?
  3. I use a Yamaha RX-777. I think the highs will be a little "piercing" at times, have that problem sometimes with the Cornwalls.
  4. Awesome, thanks! These are my "more Klipsch", have a pair of Cornwalls and Heresies which should go very nicely with a pair of Khorns. Oh, btw, he's selling em to me for $1500 US. Great deal right?
  5. My boss is selling one of his 5 pairs of Khorns, but before I buy them I have a few questions that hopefully you guys can answer. 1. The speakers are in very good condition, but on of them has no side grills for some reason. How difficult and/or expensive would it be to replace them? 2. The Klipsch ID stickers are on the back but neither have serial numbers for some reason. Is there any other way I could find out the date they were made? 3. This is the first time I have even seen Khorns so I don't know much about them. His other four pair have the bronze/copper colored "Klipsch" logo plate on them, but the pair he is selling has the "WK" logo on it. Any difference? Maybe this info will help in approximating a date. Thanks
