Relax... I realize everyone is very subjective on this forum. I encourage it. Let me ask this question... what makes a VRD amp voiced to a Klipsch speaker? I am not doubting the worthiness of the VRD, but it's out of my price range. Plus I'd like to assemble it to possibly mod it or repair it in the future. I hear that tube amps are high maintenance. I'm sure I'll get blasted with smart remarks, but it's like water off a duck's back. No worries.

What draws me to this amp is the "Made in the USA" iron and the stainless steel chassis. Assembling the kit I believe would help me understand tube amps. All new parts are also a definite plus. I realize this isn't a true dynaco. I guess I shouldn't have put Dynaco in the title. How would this amp compare to a pair of VRD monoblocks by NOS valves?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about the kit in the link below? I am currently building a Cornscala and looking to drive them with a tube amp. I have very limited knowledge of tube amps and the ST-120 kit looks like an excellent opportunity to learn. I will be using a Juicymusic Blueberry for a preamp. Sunburnwilly, How much glue did you use to hold your CVs together? My CV D9 broke apart and rattled when I was a young lad after driving it too hard. Particle board cabinet was poorly constructed and the MF/HF drivers suck. Newer stuff may be better.

Thanks for all the info! I've looked at Mom's on Ramstein for gear, but the carry Cerwin-Vega and KEF. YUK! Meine Frau ist Deutsch. I've looked on e-bay, but since the Euro rate is so bad and I can ship items under 70lbs from the States I've been looking there.

Krusty Old Sarge, Ramstein Powerzone doesn't have anything but Kenwood, JVC and Bose. Need I say anything more?

Krusty Old Sarge, Thanks for the insite. Sorry about your bad luck. That's life though. I am thinking about 80wpc @ 8 ohms for driving a Hersey. I think I'll shop around for some nice separates. I don't mind doing maintenance, but part searching and rebuilds are another story. It may take a while to find something. I see lots of them for sale needing work/parts.

Thanks for the info Krusty old Sarge! I may look for separates so I can upgrade the amp if/when I get some Cornwalls or Bells. Is the Marantz gear dependable?

Anyone have any experience driving Herseys with SS Marantz gear? I need a dual voltage(110V/220V) system being stationed in Germany. Vintage Marantz seems like the logical choice. Any ideas?

James, I've been in the USAF 20 years since I was 17. It's all I know. I'm looking now for some dual voltage Marantz SS gear to drive these Herseys. Anyone have any suggestions???

Dr Dezibel, Got them used from the States on E-bay. They are walnut Hersey1. Shipping a small speaker under 70 lbs(like Hersey) is cheap for me($60usd). PS: I'm an airman not a soldier!!!

I bought some Herseys!!! Now comes the chore of finding some vintage Marantz SS gear.

I'm staioned at Ramstein. I live in Munchweiler-Alsenz. I'll wait till something comes up for sale over on this side of the big pond.

Dr. Dezibel, Was he going to sell the K-horns also? What was he driving them with? It takes a whole package to produce great sound IME.

Before getting some junk here I think I would buy some herseys from the States and ship them.

This is my first post, but I've been viewing this forum for quite a while. I'm in the USAF stationed in Germany. I've saved up some $$$ so now I'm looking for some cornwalls. I'd consider Klipschorns or Belles also. Shipping from the States is quite expensive so I'm looking for some in Europe. I've tried e-bay but most is either junk or way overpriced.
