  1. Here are additional photos. I will be selling these speakers soon, and was wondering whether to trash the cabinets and sell the speakers, or ? Anyway, any direction would be appreciated. The first five are photos of drawings of the horn that are on drafting paper from the Soundscriber Corp. of New Haven, Conn. They are hand drawn and have a lot of numbers/notations. http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr5.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr4.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr3.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr2.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr1.JPG The next is the TruSonic speaker in the cabinet that is situated behind the baffle cover. It is an earlier speaker (Los Angeles production - 1940's) and measures approx. 15-16" (I did not have a tape measure): http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/speak1.JPG The next couple show the horn tweeter by University (this could be a later addition): http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/speak2.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/speak3.JPG The next several are the hand built horn. It has a TruSonic 1940's driver. It is made of plywood. It is kind of beautiful: http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/speak4.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/speak5.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/speak6.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/speak7.JPG The next 2 are photos of the top cavity electronics where the horn sits: http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/top1.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/top2.JPG The next several show the interior construction around the woofer: http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/int1.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/int2.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/int3.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/int4.JPG The next 2 show the side and front of the cabinet: http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/ext1.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/ext2.JPG
  2. It is symetrical as in your drawing. I really do consider the mids with the TruSonic drivers a work of beauty. I will try and open one up this week and get photos of the innards. Thanks again for all of your comments.
  3. Here are links to a few photos of the drawings. These speakers are in storage and have not been hooked up. I did not really understand the "half tone" scans comment, but I figure it was a commentary on my professional photography LOL. Thanks again. http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr1.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr2.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr3.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr4.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/skr5.JPG
  4. According to the lady whose husband had these made, her husband was friends with a man whose last name was Burns, and he had something to do with the development of Klipsch (perhaps). The lady was in her 80's and got excited when I found the speakers as she wanted to tell me the history. She knew absolutely nothing about sound equipment, but knew these were something to do with Klipsch. As to the handmade horns, they have Tru-Sonic drivers. The tweeter is a University. And I have not made it into the bass cavity inside, as these are sealed, and I have not had time to figure out how to break the seal without damaging anything. The plans are on what appears to be 40's drafting paper and are hand drawn with hand written notes. They are not purchased plans or something out of Popular Mechanics. They are not in the best of shape, and are mostly done from plywood,, but I would imagine early on that this would have been a common construction material. Thanks to all for any info!
  5. I posted this earlier. I am not sure about the name on the posting. The lady said Burns, I am sure. I am just not sure of his first name. Here is my original posting. Hello, I picked up a pair of speakers that are corner units, handmade, and were supposedly from the pre-Klipsch shop. The lady's husband was a sound engineer in the 40's and up, and worked with a man by the name of Dick (?) Burns. She said that her husband was great friends with Mr. Burns, and that he had some involvement with Klipsch. I have original drawings that were made of the horn and cabinet. They are on early drafting paper from the Soundscriber Corp. I was just curious if anyone has any info, or could give me any leads on where to get info. Thank you in advance for your help. Photos of the speakers (pardon my mess) are located at the below links: http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/spkr1.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/spkr2.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/spkr3.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/spkr4.JPG http://www.50sixty70.com/images/misc/spkr5.JPG
