According to the lady whose husband had these made, her husband was friends with a man whose last name was Burns, and he had something to do with the development of Klipsch (perhaps). The lady was in her 80's and got excited when I found the speakers as she wanted to tell me the history. She knew absolutely nothing about sound equipment, but knew these were something to do with Klipsch.
As to the handmade horns, they have Tru-Sonic drivers. The tweeter is a University. And I have not made it into the bass cavity inside, as these are sealed, and I have not had time to figure out how to break the seal without damaging anything.
The plans are on what appears to be 40's drafting paper and are hand drawn with hand written notes. They are not purchased plans or something out of Popular Mechanics.
They are not in the best of shape, and are mostly done from plywood,, but I would imagine early on that this would have been a common construction material.
Thanks to all for any info!
