  1. All, I am setting up my first decent surround system and am giving some though to connectors. I've read on here references to "Bananna Clips" (or plugs) connections. Can someone give me a brief tutorial? What are the benefits and where can I get some? How do they connect? Do they just plug into the middle of the speaker connector on the back of my receiver? I've been twisting the stripped wire around the post and screwing it down.`, and to be honest, it is quite a pain, and I always thought there must be a better way. Another question is Are they recommended for connecting the wires to the receiver? The wires to the Speakers? Or both?? I found some on the internet, and they are around $5.00 per pair. SO, $5.00 * 7 channels = 35.00 Then 35.00 * 2 needed at each end) And you are talking about a $70.00 investment for connectors alone. Is it worth it and is there a cheaper alternative? Thanks in advance, -Mike
  2. All, I have the Klipsch reference line of speakers: RB75, RC-7, RS-7. I am in the market to purchase a new receiver, and I am really leaning toward the new Yamaha 5990, with thx select2, video upconversion, and hdmi switching. Now, I have been reading in quite a few forums that I should *NOT* pair a Yamaha receiver with Klipsch speakers. The reason given is that the Yamaha receivers tend to be on the "bright" side. (higher high's/treble) and the Klipsch speakers also tend to be bright, so they do not make a good pairing. However, after all my receiver shopping, I like the Yamaha receiver the best, as it fits all my needs and surround sound modes. So my questions are: - Should I be concerned about the above pairing? Note: I will not have a chance to demo these for myself before purchasing. - Is anyone running Klipsch/Yamaha combo and happy with it? Anyone unhappy? - If you don't recommend the pairing, then why, and what alternatives do I have? Thanks in advance, -Mike What are your recommendations on receivers?
  3. All, I am about to purchase speaker stands for my new RB75 bookshelf speakers. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am concerned because I know these are BIG for a bookshelf speaker. I am looking at: The Sanus Natural Foundation 24B (www.racksandstands.com) or The Omnimount 24in Cosmic24 (from circuit city) Can I use either of these? Is there anythng better? Also, how do I fasten the speaker to the stand? Velcro? And finally, any ideas on a center channel stand for the RC-7? I was just going to pick one I liked from the racksandstands website... Thanks in advance, -Mike
  4. How much space in the rear do I need for the low freq to escape? Will I have problems if I put it into an entertainment center with like a foot of space behind it? What about 6 inches? I am asking because I haven't bought the entertainment center yet.
  5. All, I am currently waiting for my klipsch reference set to come: RC-7 center, RB75, RS7 surrounds. Now I have a problem. Can anyone give me help or advice on where can I put my RC-7 Center. Man, this speaker sounds awesome, (but it is HUGE in size, as well as sound).! I plan on using this with a Plasma TV on a tv stand. (no wall mount) So where can I put this monster speaker? On top of the TV is obviously out. Ok, so that leaves on the shelf beneath the TV. HOWEVER.. This speaker is 12inches tall. A full foot. I am looking for a TV stand with shelves that will accomodate it, but everything I see is 10inch shelf height or smaller at best buy, circuit city, etc.. So, this leaves purchasing a center channel stand... but I do NOT want to do this, for several reasons. 1) I have a 20 month old son.. nuff said. 2) It will be in the way 3) It will block access to the stuff beneath the tv. xbox, DVD, etc.. So did anyone else experience similar issues fitting this large speaker into their environment? Can anyone recommend a good TV stand that will house it? Or any other ideas? (please don't say wall mount) Thanks in advance, -Mike
  6. Hey, Does anyone else want to give their opinion on Should I keep the RS35's as surrounds for my RB75 / RC7 setup. Or should I upgrade to the RS7 surrounds? If I do it, I have to call up first thing Tuesday Morning.. so please give your opinion. Thanks
  7. Hey all, Thanks for the recommendations. I bought the following today: 2 RB 75's L+R 2 RS 35's rears 1 RC7 center I got it for 2100.00. Did I screw up on the rears?? I was trying to decide between RS35 and RS7. The price difference was not that great, but the RS7's were HUGE!! I was concerned about them mounting on my wall. rs35=9 pounds rs7=24 pounds What do you think? I can still change it. Room is 20X25, but the tv/speakers will be regulated to only half the room. -Mike
  8. Is this completely crazy or what? I am purchasing a klipsch set of speakers for Home Theater. My budget can go as high as $2000.00 (started out at 500.00 a month ago baha) I went demo'ing, and I like the RB25's and also like the RB35's. They are also in my budget... I then listened to the RC7 center channel (the big mother) and was completely blown away. It sounds SO REAL, and much better than the RC35 center. The only klipsch dealer near me is a small store, so I could only hear certain configurations of speakers together, and some only in 2 channel mode.. so I couldn't demo my fiendish plan below.. So I look to you all for opinions... Now there is absolutely NO WAY I can afford to go RC7/RF7/RS7 all around.. that would be about 4 thousand dollars!! No chance in **** BUT... what if I ran the awesome center with the rest of the speakers in my price range? RB35 : 600.00 / pair RS35 : 600.00 / pair RC7 : 800.00 ------------------------- $2000.00 total... (and that's retail, I could probably get a little discount?) This way I get the awesome center, which everyone says produces 60-80% of your sound in home theater, and I get the timber matching because I stay in the reference line..AND.. (here's where I am really stretching...) later if I want to move to a 7.1 setup, I keep everything and just add in the 2 RF7's after I hit the lotto jackpot.. Genius or Madness? Would it sound like crap? Please let me know. -Mike
