thanks for the info...I'm going to google that right now...had no idea there were independent repair companies out there for speakers....usu. I'm very leery of "tv/vcr/electronics/computer" repair shops...because the diagnostic fees on those items are usu. as much as or more than a replacement....but hopefully I'll find a shop here in San Diego . thanks again, Josh

yes...apologies for the incorrect terminology. but, yes that is the situation....how can they be repaired....where can I get new drivers......which would be more economical?

I have a pair of Kg4's that I've had for 16 years....last week I heard a crackle on low basslines....which I've never ever heard. turned out my 8" mid range's have torn their rubber boots...all in the same place....I know my speakers are old...but I love them, and hope they can be repaired....anyone have any suggestions.....encouraging words?
