  1. OK, quick question. I purchased a new iFi over a year ago and due to procrastination, finally got it from the box to mounting on my wall. A bit of procrastination there. WOW!! This puppy sounds incredible for the size. It is very unobtrusive but has great living room filling sound. So I decided to pop back here to see comments. And I see a bunch of problems/broken units. How durable are these units? What's the percentage of failure? Can we drive them pretty hard after break in? How long is Klipsch is going to support parts and repairs? I'm asking as I have about 3 hours on these and if they are not very durable to daily use, I'll probably advertise them locally before they break and get something more durable. Please note, this is NOT an offer to sell. They sound incredible for the size. Just amazing. But I want something that is very likely to last for at least 5 years. Any other suggestions to getting the most out of these are highly welcome. Wondering what high frequencies to boost to compensate for the reputed 'recessed highs'. Again, it was a really 'WOW' experience when I mounted them today. Not just that, but the whole unit just exudes quality and design. Thanks, MTMT
  2. Greetings, 1st week of January here. Any updates Amy? Thanks, MTMT
  3. Thanks. Anyone else tried both position? The deal with parallel to the floor is that the cones would extend out 'indefinitely' across the room at ear level. Angeled down from the ceiling corner, there's only one spot where the cone would be pointed to. The results then depends on how good the dispersion is. Am I making sense? Anyways, I'm tempted to try it out at ear level. Thanks, MTMT
  4. Many electronics manufacturer would quietly tweak their products to improve it during the life cycle of the product without publicizing it. So for example, some cameras will get updated firmware etc. Some speakers will get upgraded specs. Often, these happens quietly. Anyone knows if the iFi has also gone through quiet improvements? In particular I'm most curious if they changed their 'amp' characteristics to accentuate the highs a bit to compensate for the widely mentioned subdued highs. (Yes, one can do a EQ adjustment but that is highly imprecise for most portable devices compared to the manufacturer tweaking it specifically.) Thanks, MTMT
  5. Noticed that the iFi base has 'cutouts' to mount on walls. Excellent. We're looking to mount ours permanently. Question: Should we mount the satellites: 1. On the wall at ear level away from the celing corners, and pointed out horizontally? 2. At the ceiling/wall corner, and angled downwards towards one of the listening position? Incidentally, how good is the tweeter disperson on the iFi compared to high end bookshelf speakers? Would really appreciate any knowledgeable response. Failing that, any informed conjecture.... Thanks! MTMT
  6. No worries. I do not feel chastised. My perspective is that we are in the forum together sharing info. And the best info is to present all relevant information to the consumer, making the consumer the 'winner' as they are the ones who ultimately support the companies by their purchases. As to costco vs refurbs, I simply presented pros and cons of both as I see them. I myself was helped by Amy's comments enough that I did go out and purchase a unit. Blessings, MTMT
  7. If you want peace of mind and think new would give you peace of mind, go to your local costco where they are new at $199.99. If you get it refurbed and recertified, they are probably just as good and save you a trip driving to Costco. Warranty is different thought and return policy also different. MTMT
  8. Amy, THANKS. I just reasked this in my other thread. Sorry. Jan is good. Quesrtion: Is this going to be provided free or will there be a charge? Thanks! MTMT
  9. Spoke to someone at our Costco today. He implied that these may be just a temporary item. The Costco sold 12 today. Still have 21 here. Not sure. He suggested that I pick one up in case they sell out and that I can always return it later. Just a thought. I did pick one up but did not open it yet until I know that Klipsch will actually provide a Nano insert. Klipsh? Nano insert? MTMT
  10. I just figured that is the new price point that iFi would fall to. Could be wrong of course. Just noticed that at Amazon, the Logitech 2300 is at around $60! This is not in the same league as the iFi but my point is that these 2.1 speakers seem to be dropping seriously in price. Not sure why. Perhaps China's manufacturing cost for these are dropping? I was there a few months back and saw some very tasty bookshelf speakers complete with nice tube amps and nice speaker stands at $250 US. This is going off topic so I'll stop but the point is that China manufacturing is really producing incredible value. MTMT
  11. When is the new Nano Insert coming? Thanks, MTMT
  12. So. California Costco. I was just back there today and there still had a large mound of them. Not sure how many they sold, but there had a good supply. Hope this helps. MTMT
  13. Quick note that the Costco units at $199 were new, and not refurbed. Great buy indeed, given the quality. As to the 'recessed high', PC Mag which I've grown to trust in the speakers reviews confirmed as much. Not being critical here. Just increasingly realize what I like as we listen primarily to classical music. Thanks, MTMT
  14. Well, just got back from Costco where we saw a 'mountain' of iFi at $199. Did a double take given the price but there it was. Wonder if this is the new standard pricefor the iFi? 1 year warranty, no shipping charges. Sounds like a great deal. Still considering it but the subdued highs gives us pause. Any comments welcome. Thanks, MT
