  1. "It can't hurt to ask their tech support." This is true. I will.
  2. Not to pick nits, but the original poster said he heard that there were issues with the nano and that sometimes no audio was produced when docked. You responded by saying you need to do two things - reset the ipod and get the spacer from Klipsch. That would lead one to believe that the spacer had some additional capability, when, as we all know, it doesn't. You do not need it for the nano to work - it just holds it in place with a bit more stability. I get all that - it just seems odd to me that back in December and January everyone's immediate response to "my nano doesn't work" was "don't worry - the insert will be shipped shortly". As we all now know, the insert is absolutely irrelevant as to whether or not the nano should work, but for two months there were so many posts that inferred otherwise (such as "Question 2: Two issues, iPod needing to be sometimes reset before adding it to iFi, and the correct spacer for the Nano from Klipsch"), one shouldn't be faulted for assuming more.
  3. Perhaps the perception is that there haven't been consistent problems, but I have noticed these threads which may imply the opposite: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/678523/ShowPost.aspx Notice point #2 in the first post in the thread, as well as Larry1's response which implies that the "spacer" should have some positive influence. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/649643/ShowPost.aspx miker011 and FrontLine report the same problem with the Nano that I am experiencing. There is no way I am going to call Apple suppport with this one. "Hello, Apple. I have an iPod Nano that doesn't work with my Klipsch iFi. Um, yes, it does work fine with my AirPlay2. Yep, I've tried it with the Bose SoundDock, too. Yes - works fine. The Altec Lansing inMotion? Uh huh, works fine there. But Klipsch says it's YOUR fault so please help me." I doubt that this will resolve anything. There is obviously a problem. I am a paying customer. It is not my responsibilty to spend untold hours figuring out if the problem is Apple's or Klipsch's. The responsibility sits with the manufacturers of the products that are having compatibility issues. Still, score so far: Works: 0 Doesn't Work: 1
  4. Here's a bit more back story. I bought the iFi for my family for Christmas. My wife and kids all have minis. They work fine. I have a nano. It would not work, so I checked on this forum for help. I noticed that other people had the same problem. I also noticed that Klipsch was promising that the nano insert would be shipped soon. Since there were so many nano/ifi problems being reported, I hoped that the insert would be more than just a piece of plastic - something I assumed even more given the delays in actually getting the inserts manufactured and shipped. They were originally promised Q4 '05, but didn't ship until last month. Seems odd that just a simple piece of plastic would take so long to finally figure out and also cause so much excitement upon the news of its distribution. Once again, this all led me to believe that the nano/ifi problem was chronic and that Klipsch was fixing the problem with an insert/adapter. I even sent this email to Klipsch back in January, but got no response: "One additional question - is the insert just a plastic sleeve or does it do something special to get the Nano to work with the iFi? I tried connecting the Nano as is - not a solid fit, but I still expected it to work once connected. It didn't. All the other inserts that came with the iFi are nothing more than plastic sleeves, so I hope that the Nano insert has additional capabilities to get the Nano to actually work with the iFi." So, all said, I wouldn't characterize my assumption that the insert could conceivably be more than just a piece of plastic as misguided. Unfortunately, it looks like I spent hundreds of dollars on a product that doesn't work as advertised. It's sort of like buying a car an not being able to turn left. Everything else works great, it even looks good, but if I'm traveling east and want to go north, I first have to turn south and west before I can turn in the direction I want. It gets me there, but it's a pain.
  5. When it was referred to both in this forum and on the packaging I received today as "adapter".
  6. Good thought, but it works just fine with the XtremeMac AirPlay2 FM transmitter in my truck.
  7. I just received my nano insert. As I feared, it's nothing more than a piece of plastic designed to hold the nano in place. Unfortunately, it does nothing to help my nano work with my iffy. A couple of us in this forum still seem to be having nano issues, but not all of us. So, rather than get another unhelpful and terse response such as "firmware" to my question "why does my nano not work with my ifi?" (obviously it is not a firmware issue if other people's nanos work just fine), I am now starting an informal poll - Does Your Nano Work With Your iFi (seated in the cradle, not just hooked up with a 3.5mm twin-tip cable)? Score so far: Works: 0 Doesn't Work: 1
  8. Are you asking me or telling me? Or do I just say "First hand knowledge?" in my best Comic Book Guy voice?
  9. Is that a theory or a fact? If the latter, any idea of when a fix might be expected? Thanks.
  10. I have the exact same problem as miker011. Everything lights up, static comes out. Conversely, there is no problem at all with my son's mini. Plays fine. Anyone from Klipsch have theories as of yet?
