Changing the cabinet finish on Cornwall 1 speakers

I have had a pair of Cornwalls since 1980 and want to change their dark finish to match the light oak of our current furniture. Has anyone done this and what is the best way. They still sound fantastic but my other half would prefer if their colour could change. Any help would be much appreciated. Arathorn in chilly England.
