  1. Mark, Seriously look into server based delivery. First I am big into home automation, Gosh I could go on for days. Everything is automated but thats for another time. I have a 3.4ghz computer with 8 250GB hard drives in a raid 5 array for 1.5 terrabytes of storage. I am using an M Audio 1010lt sound card which gives me 4 analog outs and a digital. The analog feed a whole house music system, digital feeds the theater sound system. I use J River Media Center as the backend and Cinemar Mainlobby on a touchscreen. The music is just a small portion of the system but I can have 5 simoustaneous music feeds with no degradation. I then use an airpanel which is a wireless tablet and can sit there and pick song after song and the wife can be anywhere else in the house listening to whatever she wants. I currently have 700 Gigs of wav files on the server. As far as the equipment closet, the rack on the left is strictly audio and all McIntosh except the TT. The rack on the right is all video, the rack in the middle is a little of both plus my electronic crossovers and balanced line drivers psg, I am very happy, I didn't know music could sound so good Jack
  2. And then to the west, the clouds are covering the peaks, named the San Francisco peaks, tallest mountains in Arizona
  3. Looking out my back door at the neighborhood boobs
  4. And this one is for Chicago Pete, Looking out my theater door
  5. The front wall with screen down
  6. The Equipment Closet on the back wall, these doors open to a 7X15 dedicated closet
  7. Here are some pic's excuse the mess, like the baseboard and trim that still needs to be put up laying on the floor, and the other speakers in front of the K's
  8. i'll post pics in a bit, i would have to leave the room to do that! i have my cd's ripped in wav format on server with a wireless tablet as a front end so i can sit here and listen and still be online. the system works well, digital out of the server into McIntosh mac 3 dac, Mac C39 pre to a Mac mc150 at the moment. next will be my mc240 my dog loves the land Travis, satisfied doesn't describe well enough
  9. Now several songs later, i am hearing highs without an ionovac. first time in years i have not only been satified but hearing things i haven't heard so distinguished and detailed. i am blown away
  10. ok, sitting here with my airpanel listening to my first song. in all my life i have never heard anything so smooth so transparent, i had to check 3 times to make sure my sub was turned off. 1.5 McIntosh watts, now 3 watts, my god i have died and gone to audio heaven. Absolutely no comparison to my Belles. i can't believe the low end, the mids are so open, i need to add an Ionovac on top, but that is my hearing, i know my top end hearing is gone. you don't even see them in the corners Chicago Pete i have 2.5 acres, it is 130 ft to my front fence from where the khorn is standing. my lot is pie shaped, 360ft across the front, 20ft across the back, 680ft down one side, 580ft down the other side and a dirt road at each end. i lived in California 53 yrs, i don't miss not having neighbors
  11. Got em off the trailer and out of the truck, unboxed, taken apart and applaude this old fart for getting them in the house all by himself, damn young kids are so irresponsible, never showed up. A little eye candy while I take a break. BTW the house you see in the background is my closest nieghbor
  12. The Khorns are in Flagstaff, now to unload, unpack and setup. Pictures will be posted soon Jack
  13. Just want to say THANKS! to everyone who has posted their experiences and well wishes! I am sure I will be posting as I try different things. I called the shipper, the truck is supposed to arrive at 10 am, so I will be leaving about 7am with trailer, packing blankets, tarps, ropes and straps for my 320 mile journey I'll post some pix tomorrow night
  14. Wow, I guess you learn something new everyday. I would never nor have never fed an amplifier full bandwidth and then put a passive xover on the output with one end of the spectrum unloaded. But then again I don't own anything new technology (within the last 5 years) I have seen what inadequate gauge speaker wire can do to an amp let alone being unloaded. I have used active xovers for years. Speakerfritz, I would have agreed with your take on the matter, but then I am no expert
  15. that is what i am sure will eventually happen. I already have the Anthem AVM20 7.1 preamp and Anthem MCA50 and MCA20 (5 channel and 2 channel respectively) Put the Khorns in the front, Belles in the rear, Heresys as surrounds and get a Belle for the Center. I wouldn't even have to adjust the height of my screen, a Belle would fit under it nicely. The Anthem amps are nice amps, 180watts into 8 ohms per channel with awesome specs and very musical, but tomorrow when I bring the Khorns home will be the big test, see how they sound A/B Anthem vs McIntosh. I have enough Mac amps to do 7.1 If I do that I will have to find a home for all my Paradigm Studio Reference. Lots of plans for things to try. But noting can be done until the Khorns get here, I know tomorrow is close but darn the wait is killing me. I worked out some creative shipping with 3 different affiliated shipping companies that just so happened to have "empty" trucks going between Texas and Arizona, so well I kinda partially filled them up. They have been in transit for 11 days now. I hope this storm we are having passes tonight, it has been pretty nasty all day long The room is 30' X 30' and the screen (rolled up in the picture) is 110" diagonal
  16. well, i'm not an invalid, but no young kid either. i've already had the hernia surgery a couple times before i would admit my age. but on the other hand, what the perfect excuse to have to sit in my recliner picking up nothing more than a remote or a tone arm for the next 6 weeks. hardest part of being almost 55 is knowing there are things you can't do anymore or knowing the consequences if you do
  17. Hardhead, You have hit the nail on the head so precisely it is scary. Even before I found this pair of K's the thought of a 5.1 or 7.1 heritage system has crossed my mind. I keep telling the thought to go away, but with a 110" diag screen and projector and even tho my Anthem/Paradigm system sounds downright Awsome for the theater, I did buy the Heresy's an then the K's. If I did have a single Belle, I could do K's in the front, Belles in the rear, Heresy's for surround. It really depends on how the K's sound with the SS Anthem Amps I have (I do have enough McIntosh to go around) but would still have to use my Anthem preamp for the multi-channel at least, my Mac preamp only does Dolby ProLogic. I will say that even with my Belles where they currently sit in this room do need a center fill, get off axis ever so slightly and you can tell. If I can get the K's/Belles to sound good for 2 channel, leave the multi channel stuff for the Anthem/Paradigm, might be the direction I need to head, at least for now. BUT, Anyone have a single Belle that needs a home? LOL
  18. Spoke to the shipper, she said she has strong guys down there. The truck is supposed to be in at 10, so I told her I would be there then. so we are down to about 21 hours until they are in my possession.... Jack
  19. And we are having a horrendous thunder storm as I type, hope it moves on
  20. Rob, there is always something that is forgotten. I guess I better call the place and make sure they have some "boys" there to help get loaded, I was only thinking unloading. One would think a shipping company should have someone there, Guess its time to make a phone cal or two Jack
